Traveling the world is the greatest thing you can do. I’m not talking about being a faggot who stays in 5 star hotels and eats these fucking crazy expensive meals- I’m talking about grabbing a fucking backpack and traveling as a minimalist, just enjoying life. It’s cheap as fuck too, 1 year in the developing world is like $20k, and the developed world is like $40-50k. Can’t stress how great it is for developing yourself or how much fun you’ll have

craft beer tastes good though. what is the point of life if you're not even going to indulge in your senses?

designer clothes are worth it because they fit well, last many years instead of falling apart in 3 months, and are made out of comfortable materials that feel good to wear. some are overpriced, but that goes for anything, you gotta be smart and not just buy things because they cost more. same goes for watches: good watches last a long time, are accurate, comfortable to wear, etc.

cars are essential if you have a job (which we all know you don't, dumbfuck). and more expensive cars are safer, more fuel-efficient, and last much longer.

and... travelling the world is a waste of money? jesus anon... you sound like a NEET who's never been outside the state before.

What kind of bullshit is this, I buy the ~$50 dress pants/dress shirts and they last years, color and quality. That aside if you're talking staying fashionable within casual wear then I doubt you care about things lasting 3 years as that's going to be outdated.

>cars are essential if you have a job (which we all know you don't, dumbfuck). and more expensive cars are safer, more fuel-efficient, and last much longer.

More expensive cars are not safer, fuel-efficient, or last longer.. That's silly. Newer cars are, but if we're talking Honda vs BMW then nah..

It isn’t for everyone. You have to really want to do it, and that generally means you need a strong sense of adventure. I love going to new places and meeting new people, I think that the point of life is to enjoy yourself and connect with others. You can do whatever you want really. I backpacked Europe for a couple months, and Asia is next on my list after I graduate college. The general framework is you pick a town, book a hostel for a few nights, make friends, see what the city has to offer, eat the local cuisine, and head to the train station for your next destination when you’re ready. I went 2 years ago and I still talk to the friends I made there all the time.

Also, “discovering yourself” isn’t always a meme. Okay, it is in the context of some thot flying to Bali for 2 weeks to take ass shots on a beach with daddy money, but when you travel alone like that you’re really forced to come out of your shell and grow up a lot. It’s a great way to hit the reset button on your life if you don’t like where you are. Backpacking helps you discover what makes you tick and brings you closer to the things that really matter. I unintentionally did no fap when I was backpacking. I went from being shy and awkward when I left to feeling uncomfortable not making conversation with strangers. The list goes on and on. I encourage everyone to try it, it’s the greatest experience I’ve ever had.

If anything it’s depressing seeing the extreme poverty and lack of education present in the rest of the world as you travel. You spend money on whatever you like or need to enhance your hobbies. You scrimp in some places to splurge in other places. I don't have too many hobbies but i like fast cars and motorcycles, and rock climbing so sure I have a big monthly car payment and membership to the climbing gym is expensive, but who cares. It's stuff I like. If you're a shut in gamer neet then spend 3k on a great gaming pc, go for it. Time you enjoyed wasting was not time wasted.

Spent a five months dogsitting in Thailand, a month in Russia, a month in Sri Lanka, a month in India, six months in UK.

Can confirm all of this. I'm leaving the USA for good after getting a taste of what's out there (not the least of which is an absence of American women)

This is unironically true, except for the opposite reasons. The world isn't shit because it's boring, it's shit because there's so much bullshit going on. Boring would be a very nice change of pace from this world full of misery and suffering. that's great. if they're that type and can sustain it, good for them. my only point is the people spending money they don't have or going in to debt with the goal that by traveling they will "find" something. you can do that anywhere, without money. if you can do afford it do whatever you like. that was never my argument. only that you don't need a certain material thing or experience to be content and until you have it you'll never feel "just right." and a lot of people go traveling to find that and are disappointing and out a lot of money. if you're the type that enjoys it for its own sake without thinking you'll get something out of it on the other end, then you're doing exactly what i've been saying you should

The best thing to do with your money is be frugral and donate most of it to The Holy Catholic Church.

Why would you spend 34 dollars on a shirt but only 12 on shoes? Is it even possible to buy new 12 dollar shoes that aren't flip flops?
