I'm opening a demo account with IG looking to learn trading so I can then use my own money and I was looking into learning how to trade futures, But I have read people saying it is dumb to trade futures if your trading retail. is there any tips for what I should start trading in? or books I should read? on-line open university courses courses I should do? I'm learning portfolio theory at the moment so I can correctly build a portfolio - is that a good start?

Futures trading is highly leveraged and is for the big boys with big cocks in Chicago. They love new pups like you OP.
