Nice digits.

"Technically" there might be some legal ramifications for investing in a security as a non-accredited investor, but I agree that actually pursuing and punishing the people that bought ICOs/Securities is very unlikely. Like I said, watching the stream gave me the impression that the SEC wants to make the public more aware of the potential scamminess of ICOs, and that the SEC wants to start regulating exchanges that are accessible to Americans.

Strange technologies that are still under going changes every few months is hard to label as a true security. It even opens up the new possibility of redefining in terms of what a security and how they work.
We need some time for Ethereum to scale and for EOS to get Dapps built. Holo to get Dapps built. They're speculative assets that are pretty much being gambled on.
It will be a disaster in a sense for decentralization if they demand KYC . Crypto is used for both good and bad exchanges. So is fiat, but nobody audits the IRS and federal reserve for printing money from nothing. Shit will be fucked if most of the tokens are declared securities. But some cleaning up is a possibility. it's not a direct ruling that all icos are securities.

"MUCH of what i've seen...."

as long as a token doesnt offer staking rewards it's fine. Link is a utility token because the token itself doesn't guarantee returns. It's something you to have to be a node operator and provide data.

It works as the engine key of a car. Link tokens aren't a security, they're the key you need to turn on your car so you can make money as a Uber driver.

>> No.9878285

Most of the tokens are digital chuckie cheese tokens if you think about it. Funds were raised through ICO's for supposed development of these different projects. Dentacoin for paying for dental procedures and Civic for a new identity theft. Blockchain has use cases. But it's treated as a quick get rich opportunity. SEC doesn't ant people to be scammed so they're doing their due diligence and cleaning up the scene. Weed out bad tokens and allow the ones that coincide with SEC regulations. Good luck taking away the technical aspects though. It's coded for decentralization and should always be that way. Scaling is the next step and smart contracts.
