Anyone on /biz/ play an instrument? I've played guitar the past few years, but considering buying a keyboard. Been has been a good distraction from crypto price charts

Learnt some basics of the Keyboard (amoung other instruments) when I was a kid, I still try to dabble in it. If you guys ever become parents, make sure to make your kid learn an instrument, even if they hate it at their age. They'll love you for it later on.

get a synth keyboard like a nice roland with weighted keys that can have a bunch of sounds, don't get a shitty keyboard. i'm learning jazz bass lately it's fun as shit, very comfy. my plan is to just play music every fucking day all day when i make it, build a giant recording studio in my basement and live happily ever after

The amateur rock guitarist and semi-pro engineer in me wants to participate in this, but the guilt ridden over my mediocrity /biz/reali in me says - fuck off - let's discuss how to make money.

I play trombone with a community Jazz band, also occasionally play with a couple of friends at pubs in a quintet (drummer, bass, me, sax, and vocalist/trumpet). I've thought of getting a seaboard for the memes but I'm still on the fence with it.

yeah I see the appeal of the mini synths, but for as far the songs I want to play, weighted keyboard seems like the best compromise. thanks for the rec

Not true, my $400 Yamaha with weighted keys is good enough for writing songs and feels surprisingly good.

I’ve been a pro/traveling musician for 6+ years as my only income (before crypto). Have gigged on guitar, bass, drums, keys, vox and played/recorded all kinds of music... it’s the life.
