to keep with your bridge analogy the current approach to AI is trying to build a bridge with liquid water. you can throw as much water at the problem and you won't end up with a solid bridge. you have to accept the fact that it can only be realised through solid matter and a clever trick would be to change the state of aggregation of the water so it becomes a quite usable solid bridge.

I completely agree. However, keep in mind that these autists often have political leanings. This is actually a political uprising as well. I think a lot of people may not even realize what the politics of technology will be.

You have the centralized technocracy vs the decentralized technocracy. Everyone focuses on the centralized technocracy though and its usually very grim dystopian stuff.

I might be thinking about this with a poor overall perspective. But seems to very much mirror libertarians vs communists / socialists.

This is a huge problem. Now keep in mind that google has released tensorflow in an open source format. But ultimately right now all of the really good shit is not available to open source environment.

Open source is right leaning and is definitely part of the decentralized technocracy. It also tends to be fall behind in terms of progress as well. Linux vs windows all over again. Big centralized entities can push advancement much farther because they have the resources to to provide incentives.

So the cycle will likely be that corporations will push us toward a centralized technocracy. Central planning. and no autonomy of the individual.
