I just had a thought, if it's possible to create a crypto hardware wallet, would it be possible to create a regular fiat currency hardware wallet, thereby completely eliminating the need for regular personal banking?

the government would have to create a programmable money which wont happen any time soon. with crypto, the money is actually in your hard wallet. with USD, the money isnt actually in your venmo wallet, it's just represented within venmo's ledger.

It's not. The wallet just holds the keys to transfer it. The money is actually online in the blockchain.
