Seems like institutional investors can curb stomp the market whenever they please. Am I wrong?

the notion that futures will prevent an asset's value from rising is pure voodoo fud.

there are futures on gold, oil, all kinds of commodities, and they have all experienced fantastic appreciations in value that follow "bubble"-esque cycles.

of course traders can "manipulate" the market but only as much as they're willing to put in to risk. if they want to sell all their shit and buy in lower, then well, that's how the market's going to go. futures or no futures.

Bitcoin will never reach an ATH again.

Crypto is now a closed system.

Ok. Here's my enlightened view.

Yes, it was a pump and dump. They spent months pumping Bitcoin only to dump it and short it with the new futures contract. Who did this? The same people who make the futures contract exist in first place. Wall Street and the SEC. Good luck reporting the manipulation to the SEC then! They are behind it.

They shorted Bitcoin in two ways:
-first, using the cash settled futures
-second, borrowing a shit ton of Bitcoin from a early adopters - one of them was Roger Ver. Remember when Ver transferred 25k Bitcoin to Bitfinex? They also borrowed from Mt. Gox.

If you look at /biz/ archives, a lot of people were aware of what was going on. This was something we discussed a lot here. So I'm not at all surprised. A lot of people decided to take the hopium pill, saying it would keep going up forever and selectively finding 'evidence' to support a bullish view.

The good news is that eventually the shorts will be closed, so we can expect a big green upward move at some point, likely before eoy.

When will we see green? I want to the good old days of /biz/ back.

Whenever we find a bottom and people who shorted at the top conclude it's time to close the big shorts.

Maybe. It's anyone's guess. But I don't think we're going to run horizontally for such a long time because that's not profitable. The big shorts want volatility to make more money. Selling power is already losing steam at 7k, so I think 6k might be the bottom. Before eoy those guys will close shorts and long, but first they need to wait for the right conditions.

I really hope so. This is such a boring market.

There is literally no new fucking money coming in, we are all just fighting over scraps on our IDEX shitcoins. One coin pumps, another dumps, and so on.

Yep, this was discussed in detail all over. EXACT predictions of how alts would pump as well. People knew, it was fucking obvious, but emotions get the better of a lot of us and we held on anyway.

This.

BTC won't rise, definitely never see anywhere near 20k as it is a worthless shitcoin that refuses to scale.

Once BCH breaks out we'll see a real bullrun.
