He was probably justified in still being concerned with competition from another retail giant -- WMT, which is known for having a logistics advantage and focusing on simply having the lowest prices and undercutting everyone else.
And, I believe AAPL also has had an ability to pay to own and download movies and shows for a while.
The dude was just too caught up in competing with other retailers, which RedBox is also somewhat representative of with physical locations to pick up rentals, to even think about streaming services.

Bought robinhood gold earlier today. Bought two calls of netflix and my robinhood gold status shit the bed and I'm not entirely sure why.

I get they withhold gold buying power if your stocks are too volatile but calls are only 12% of my portfolio. I also haven't even touched any of the gold yet.

Ugh. At least the skills for my job are what will be applicable for how I'd go about daytrading or being self-employed.
The chick I like at work is really into "financial stability" as well as a few of my friends. They have this vision that they're going to stick to the employer for a decade or more, and hope for (((raises))) and promotions. I think it would blow their fucking minds that I made 3k this month off stocks. I think my fucking raise wasn't even more than 500 bucks. Percentage-wise it didn't even outpace inflation.

I started with $500 on SPY, and as I gained more, I put more in, and jacked up the leverage gradually as I learned how to not get burned.

>Then I leaped to double down on a position in FB and I'm at 25k in my account, including the 5k in gains.
Just put more in and keep it in "reserves" of SPY or leave it as cash prepped to dump on something in order to average down or exploit a correction like February's
That's what I'm doing.
I got about 13k in SPY that I'll completely dump into SPXL if we see another unwarranted correction like from February.

You could also try REITs, bonds, or dividend stocks if SPY feels too risky for a big was of cash.
Check out LMT and NOC.
I'm not holding those now and they might not actually be that stable, but they are interesting.

I don't think you can get a good deal from placing a MARKET ORDER for open.
There might even be a hideous bid-ask spread.
Robinhood's AH behavior can diverge significantly from the open market behaviour from 9:30-4:00.
If you're worried about trying to do that in order to beat everyone else and get the best deal during a dump at market open -- you won't really be able to IMO.

You should get some more opinions on this than just me, but from my experience RH is fucked after hours and the deals there are mostly completely segregated from open market hours deals if they are diverged

My mother has an MBA, so I've gotten some good basic understandings of finances, I'm a bit lost on the workings of the system and how I can actually get into investing.
How did you get your start? Are there any good books you would reccomend? I am halfway through the Intelligent Investor and really like it.

My opinion on GLD is it is a great thing to have because it is shiny. Some things that are shiny are useless, but not gold. It's both shiny and malleable. This makes it an excellent material to use to make other things that are shiny. This gives it great potential for uses in all sorts of applications. I also expect there to be a run on gold after Vegas wins the Stanley cup because people are going to want to have some golden golden knights' merch. I for one will be purchasing some.
