Popular brokers for stock trading:
Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

I think GE started fucking up when they slowed down on being innovative in appliances.. Companies like Samsung and LG started taking a lot of market share and GE didn't care to compete and i think that was a fuck up in their part

I bet some of it was just pure smug. Samsung and LG are traditionally consumer electronics companies, at least here in the US, and are usually known TVs and cell phones. I’m sure GE had the “what do these guys know about washers” thought more than once.

He was probably justified in still being concerned with competition from another retail giant -- WMT, which is known for having a logistics advantage and focusing on simply having the lowest prices and undercutting everyone else.
And, I believe AAPL also has had an ability to pay to own and download movies and shows for a while.
The dude was just too caught up in competing with other retailers, which RedBox is also somewhat representative of with physical locations to pick up rentals, to even think about streaming services.

theyre dumping to get their buddies in, and to steal all the oil exposure they can from everywhere. goldman controls oil every which way they want (at the request of saudi/OPEC of course), its literally what they do.

>"unnamed"
>"surprise surplus"
>Somethings fucked up and I'm not falling for it. No way they'd compromise on production right during oils season
perhaps. i see a lot of the noise that goes on over in the mideast, and saudi/OPEC announcements as sort of FOMC meetings/minutes getting put out (like today). everything will just get pumped or dumped to holy hell because now its clear whats gonna happen (wink wink) over the long term. i see it as manipulation.

i do however remember some noise about oil being capped at a certain level by some intl restriction. but most things like that have no power, so i dunno.

It's going to be a long time even for me anon.
A recession would really fuck up this money line for me because I can't imagine being sufficiently good at playing a bear market.
Even if I did, I'm currently at 25k in Robinhood... I got a 66% YOY ROI for 2017, but I don't think I'd even consider living off it until beyond 100k sloshing around in there.
>I've considered just taking most of my savings and just dumping it into robinhood
That's where I'm at.

>don't feel confident or knowledgeable enough to do so
I thought stocks were lame as fuck for the longest time. Then my roommate told me inflation will eat away at my savings.
I started with $500 on SPY, and as I gained more, I put more in, and jacked up the leverage gradually as I learned how to not get burned.
>$500
>$1000
>$2000-$3000
>$5000 ($8000 with gains included)
>$12000 or so
>Then I leaped to double down on a position in FB and I'm at 25k in my account, including the 5k in gains.
Just put more in and keep it in "reserves" of SPY or leave it as cash prepped to dump on something in order to average down or exploit a correction like February's
That's what I'm doing.
I got about 13k in SPY that I'll completely dump into SPXL if we see another unwarranted correction like from February.

You could also try REITs, bonds, or dividend stocks if SPY feels too risky for a big was of cash.
Check out LMT and NOC.
I'm not holding those now and they might not actually be that stable, but they are interesting.

I don't think you can get a good deal from placing a MARKET ORDER for open.
There might even be a hideous bid-ask spread.
Robinhood's AH behavior can diverge significantly from the open market behaviour from 9:30-4:00.
If you're worried about trying to do that in order to beat everyone else and get the best deal during a dump at market open -- you won't really be able to IMO.

You should get some more opinions on this than just me, but from my experience RH is fucked after hours and the deals there are mostly completely segregated from open market hours deals if they are diverged

And yet, EURUSD is still too low, meaning US goods can never be competitive.
Trump wants to tackle that but will rustle every jimmies he encounters.

The ECB not raising rate is the only thing keeping the currency in place. Higher rate means PIGS countries got slaughtered (because of debts and competitiveness of their economies) and kill the monetary union.
But low rate irates the German people (not Merkel, the people) and Trump.
That is why I say the ECB is in a very tough position right now.

Ofc he thinks that. That's why the WTO will not do a thing when tariffs and countertariffs will start hitting hard. The US, which built its economy on global free trade, will be much more fucked than the EU with its strong inner trade.

Trump plays a dangerous game. He has known day 1 there would be matching retaliatory tariffs from China and EU. He doesn't give a fuck because it hopes it will solidify his political base, even if it fucks the US economy.

Free trade looks good on paper
But in real life, it only works with same minded people with compatible cultures and acceptance of the same set of rules
And many countries like China don't give a fuck

Global free trade is a meme. In fact the more I think about it, the more I think it can only be applied to anglo-saxon culture nations.

If you think very hard, Trump is in fact doing all he can to save global free trade and the US by rewriting and renegotiating the rules.

And once again, people trust a currency not because it is actively enforced (look at what actively currencies like the Venezuelian bolivar or the Turkish lira are doing when shtf), but because the currency in question is useful (in the case of the USA,, because it gives you access to the biggest value creating economy in the world).

You don't know shit about the EU. The lion's share of the EU diplomatic service is French, Italian and Benelux. Germany always want a strong euro, guess what they don't get it because leadership shifted.

Look at the turn taken by the brexit dealings. When Germany was in charge, soft brexit was an option, now if the UK gets a hard brexit they would consider themselves lucky because Barnier would be more than happy to let them rot on their impoverished island.

German governments have always asked for a strong EUR since the eurozone was created.
The reason for that is they have very lax labour laws compared to most western countries that allow them to renegociate salaries on the fly to match the economy, so they aren't as impacted by a stong currency than others.
Moreover, a strong currency allows the german industry to buy base materials for cheap. That's why historically the resistance to the weakening of the euro has always come from them. Finland and the Netherlands were similar but in the later year they switched sides.

Basically summed up the issue with most developed countries (USA escaped it to an extent because they're a relatively new country)

Developed countries put a lot of value on every person's life back when there was x amount of people. They then kept that value per person when x became x10. Literally using the same rules and standards for a completely different world/scenario.

Then they complain when they're broke, can't innovate and can't compete.

Forcing everyone to pay the cost (heavily weighted on productive members of society) so that everyone can have an average standard of living (heavily beneficial for non productive/low productive members of society) stutters growth - if all the benefit of the top members was contained and not wasted on useless people we would be decades ahead. If the value of life was actually rated and valued based on its rating then we could start making some progress, rather than holding the weird belief that everyone's life is as important as everyone else and therefore we should help them all, financially or otherwise.

These will be known as the stagnant years for developed world ex USA.

Sad but true.

macrons pretty dope. i totally thought he was just some stooge when he came out, but he seems alright. kinda surprising too that a random, no party affiliation guy can come out of left field, and just hop in and run the country like that, too. sets a good precedent for the future of europe. they need to diversify in their politics more. i think between brexit and the US election (and the internet age and being able to talk to foreigners more), the youth of europe has become much more politically aware of ideologies outside of literal socialism (which is bankrupting their whole continent). that cant be a bad thing

it depends on the level of leverage you want (the price you want to pay) and your time horizon
if you want to play it safe and hodl a week, ITM with long expiration (>2 months), which is safer but more expensive
You can deduce the other possibilities yourself

Macron didn't really came out of the blue. He got propped up by the traditional centrist party, profited from the socialist party breaking up and attracted a lot of centrist voters from the main right wing party. More or less, he revived a political tendency that died 40 years ago politically (classical liberalism). All of his opponents were total fucknuggets or full-fledged crooks so he got elected.

I don't know. Personally, I'm looking to dump my position today or tomorrow to swim in cash all weekend because I've been holding since Monday, and I think I accumulated more Tuesday. I'm just taking profits on these, and I'm not sure which strike date and price I would buy today because that's not what I'm looking to do. I can take a look at everything once we open, but it's really looking like GLD is reversing it's trend, which will definitely help the miners. The OPEC ramping up production is going to help the miners as well since they are effected heavily by fuel costs and the spot price. Might be a good summer to just buy some distant GXD calls and walk away for a month or two.

>> No.9592552

>>9592443
ITM. go for the high delta. think of the delta as how many shares of GLD youre LARPing as holding. the theta impact is reduced greatly due to being a couple strikes in, so the shorter ones (like 25 days is fine in case it moves away a little) are fine for quick couple day swings.

Ok. There it is...
CHK might be a poor play. It's near a high YTD.
TVIX might be a good play, it's near a low point in the range. Though it is starting to fall.
SMRT I think is a good hold. Weekly chart looks good.
NOG The area around $3 might be tough to crack. If it can break $3, you are laughing. I don't think it will break $3 though.
