Crypto is so boring lately - anyone taken up side hustles?

Started buying / selling silver bullion coins. Similar to crypto really. I buy rare years or premium coins in Europe either VAT free or in countries that use VAT margin scheme, then sell them here in UK which undercuts most UK based coin dealers who have to add 20% VAT.

I am thinking about shrimping but not sure there is a market for it here - not many people regularly eat shrimp (prawns).

I'm gonn start a youtube channel, at first just as a hobby but if I can create an audience then mauybe I can parlay that into selling merch or a patreon, the latter would be dope af.

I've also considered producing educational ebooks since I'm a compulsive writer, and have like 100k words worth on notes I've used to teach myself about everything from the marketing theories of Theodore Levitt, to notes on Classical Rhetoric, to descriptions of how Carl Ichan negotiates

So far I haven't pulled the trigger on any of these things so I'm more asking other anons for their failure and success stories on the matter.

Easiest is to buy from Belgium and ship to UK. They use margin scheme VAT rates so usually you can get just above spot price.

If you are buying 4 troy ounces or less then the additional shipping cost breaks even with what you can buy in UK, therefore you have to get bulk orders but not enough to alert customs - although intra-EU custom checks is virtually non-existent which will change post-Brexit.

My grill is Lithuanian so also go to Estonia to pick up silver when we go visit her senpai. Estonia has silver exempt from VAT, same as gold.

As long as you don't turnover more than £85k per year you don't have to add VAT to your sales.

Looking into growing actual psychedelic mushrooms. Couple hours of research can tell you everything you need to know. Literal catalogues have been published online. Initial investment seems not too much. A lot of materials can be re-used and the shrooms perpetuate themselves. Once you grow the shrooms you need to harvest the spores before you dehydrate and save for later consumption.

I already ordered syringes pre-filled with spores off some plebbit. Reddit actually has subreddits for exchanging spores legally (microscopy). Check your state, some states, its absolutely illegal to own even the spores and suppliers won't ship to you. I paid $25 in crypto for 4 syringes. Haven't started yet but the yield will be worth it if I succeed even once. Super low cost to maintain.

Spring and Summer are the seasons of music festivals and bitches love a guy with some shrooms and weed to chill for an entire day.

Yeah, and Instagram.

I charged $140 per watch and they cost me $30 to buy. Typical spend on ads per purchase was $40; so it was a $70 profit per sale.

I had tons of watches. Go check out www[dot]wolfen[dot]club. The new owner has spoiled the look of the site a little.

I wouldn't do it again myself; it was getting harder to turn a profit, ads were getting more expensive. Still profitable though. I would just rather spend my time on doing something more interesting and original, like learning code or music.

Definitely a fun experience to make some cash and set up a limited company. Great to have a deep understanding of Facebook ads when all the Cambridge Analytica stuff came out - it's helped me in my day job.

Most surprising things:
- My friends were disgusted by what I was doing, despite it being the backbone of our economy.
- People in Asia love shitty hideous watches.

Least surprising:
- People's sense of value can be very easily manipulated.

So if you do your research, theres a lot of ways to be successful growing shrooms. I haven't dove into it yet, but the information is all there. I don't wanna mislead. People don't use compost. I did my research a couple months ago so I need to refresh and take notes. Humidity is a factor, temperature is a factor, light is a factor. If i remember correctly, you actually want your mushrooms to get like 12 hours of light. Some people use a substance called perlite, which has tiny crevices that will hold water if you soak the perlite. Over time the perlite will release the water keeping your container humid.

You want to start with Brown rice flour (BFR) and vermiculite inside small mason jars first though. This stuff is nutrition for the growing spores. First you would fill pack jars with BFR verm, sterilize the entire jar by boiling in water+steam for set amount of time. THIS IS A CLEAN OPERATION. If you have contaminants in your fungi your end product will go to waste. Then say you went my route and bought syringes. Through the pre-drilled holes in the lid of mason jars, inject syringe with spores into jar into various places, CLOSE TO THE GLASS. If the fungi starts to spread and has contaminants, you'll see it against the glass and know the product is bad before you break your cakes. So with this process you're making small concentrated packs of fungi to then birth from the jar into a larger tub filled with something like perlite.

I wasn't ready to start answering questions desu, like I said, I haven't even started yet. I researched this in the winter to start about now. I have to go back to the sites and take some notes down.

I was successful in purchasing the syringes VERY easily. On the subreddits, shroom vendors have a reputation system built in and purchasers verify vendors, so if even one guy gets fucked over he's gonna ruin your rep as a vendor. I sent the crypto first, package arrived seemlessly within 4 days.

OP here - I already said in Belgium most silver dealers use the VAT margin scheme - 21% VAT is chargeable on the dealer's MARGIN not the actual silver value.

So you will still incurr VAT but you can get silver at 1 troy oz for 15 - 16 euros (£13.13 - £14, which is a pound over spot) vs best price of like £16 - £17 here if you are lucky.
