Quick lesson on options greeks:

Let's say I bought CSCO calls just before market close yesterday. I paid 0.88. they have a Delta of .33. after close, the share price dropped 2.70. how much are the calls worth at open?

Well, we multiply -2.70 by .33, get -.89. So the options will lose approximately .89, i.e. they will be worthless.

And hey look, it checked out!

No, it's true.
You can't close your short if it's delisted -- nobody is allowed to trade it anymore.
Shorts actually want the company to get near $0, but not actually hit $0 with a bankruptcy and delisting.
Think back to VIX, CERU, any other delisted shit and how it gets handled.
If you held a put on XIV all the way into delisting, you couldn't actually sell the put, which would have been incredibly profitable
