Popular brokers for stock trading:
Robinhood

http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

It had every reason to go up, too. It's been consistently stable during volatile market days. Defense had dipped after getting pumped from the Syrian attacks. I was listening to Bloomberg this morning. The story of them missing isn't even the tip of the iceberg. The restructuring (again) is what is going to kill their US operations.

They lost 17% on their US trading desks. Getting out of profitable markets where they lose money every quarter seems to be the way forward. However, Deutsche's home of Germany is an unprofitable banking market.

Farrow and Keane shit all over Deutsche for almost 15 minutes this morning on Bloomberg Radio.

I do like the 4-week bills. I've made a bit of cash buying on the Wednesday when the new ones hit the secondary market then selling on the Thursday or Friday.

I've noticed though someone is selling every early morning causing a temporary spike in yields. Euros selling a bunch at this time?

reminder that vol traders are degenerates ruining the market

>Products betting for or against volatility both magnify the effect of volatility.

>When volatility spikes, issuers of leveraged VIX ETPs have to rebalance at the end of the day by buying large amounts of VIX futures. Perhaps somewhat counterintuitively, rebalancing flows are procyclical regardless of whether the ETP benefits from rising or falling volatility – issuers of both types of ETPs have to rebalance in a way which amplifies initial moves in volatility.

ah yes thats true, earnings was probably after hours yestdrday? i didnt even know, i should have probably held overnight even if i went into a loss, a company like AMD with the current crypto boom is more likely to beat earnings than not right? i'd end up taking a chance they either moon or tank this morning, and i would have been right...

good idea for sure, what typically happens after huge rocket jumps after earnings? typically at some of trade you would expect right, before moving up again if it makes sense? if so shorting AMD for the rest of today and into tomorrow morning might be a high probabilty play...

yeah, after hours yesterday.

in the TA world, earnings are always hard to judge, sometimes the company does well and it goes up, sometimes the company does well and the market doesn't care and it drops. so some traders just avoid stocks near earnings dates to keep things more predictable

barchart.com is a good website to get future earnings dates, etc

well the earnings date shows up on tradingview charts, i just didnt realize it was so close when i opened my trade like a week and a half ago. Its basically just outright hit and miss your saying, thats why people avoid it? during a bull run it would make sense to me perhaps to buy stuff the day before earnings because companeis on average should be beating them and then selling on the next open for solid profit on average, right? and shorting everything pre-earnings during bear markets?

not that we are clearly in either one right now, shits volatile as fuck right now...

i do get as an amateur enthusiast i should probably just sell off before earnings and see what happens, im not good enough to work my way through them

If it goes right there will be a sell off followed by a slight gain, the bull trap, then a huge sell off. At what point it bottoms out is anyone’s guess but I’ve noticed that half way between the starting point and the high is usually about right. The only problem is there’s no time line for this. Look at what happened with BPMX last month. That was a perfect example.
Disclaimer is that I’m only in the experimental stage with this so trade at your own risk.

Average lifetime volatility of the market is ~ 19.5%. 10% and lower volatility is an anomaly that only happened during Trump's first year because everyone was in feel-good "gimme dat tax break" mode. Case-and-point, look at VIX for 1996-2000, one of the greatest bull runs in history. VIX is still hovering above 20-30% most of the time.

A "new phase in the market" is not dictated by volatility/VIX. Low VIX =/= bull, high VIX =/= bear. It is only a measure of what the market thinks the price change will be, up or down. We could already be in the next great bull market, and VIX may never go below 14-15 again.

Yeah we shorted volatility last year banged hookers and did cocaine like it was going out of style last year. Now we're shorting your stupid bond markets because the federal government can't figure out how to balance a budget through raising taxes or cutting domestic entitlements or military spending. The whole market is about to collapse like a house of cards and I'm just sitting here loving every minute of it. Pic related it's me except I don't drink.
