>He used to study crypto with a sense of excitement, like he has discovered a new frontier of human evolution
>Realizing both the practical and philosophical importance of distributed blockchains, he felt enlightened and lucky beyond comprehension that he among few was granted the knowledge of this upcoming revolution far before it happened
>But then as he discussed it more and more, posted memes, made jokes - the magic wore off
>It's just a thing now, a way to make money
>He has forgotten the importance of cryptocurrencies for humanity
If you're this guy, wake up right now and get your mind back where it belongs. This is big. It's not just about money.

Right now, business transactions require trusted third parties.

>You have to trust the US government to maintain the stability of the US dollar
>You have to trust your bank to let you use the money you gave to them
>You have to trust PayPal to not steal all of your money
>You have to trust brokerage firms to hold your stocks for you

Distributed blockchains completely remove the requirement for trust. The trust is put into mathematics itself and the existence of hard to compute functions. This is much more trustworthy than some suit wearing cigar smoker

tl;dr
Trust is no longer required for business. This is bigger than the printing press, this is bigger than the telephone, this is the biggest invention for commerce truly ever. But more importantly, for freedom. We can hold elections on the blockchain. We will, eventually. They will be fully audit-able.

Are we ready as a species to move from centralized command-and-control to decentralized individualism? I don't know. We still don't have a renewable energy source, a solar storm would obliterate our satellite fleet (and thus internet access). We are at the mercy of climate change, volcanoes, tectonic plates, asteroids, viruses etc. Without mentioning the stockpiled nukes that could wipe out civilization and all the sub-120 IQ mongoloids who are allowed to vote/reproduce/live.
This could be revolutionary if we were ready. I think we first need to pool all our resources into gene editing/AI/intelligence augmentation and create humans worthy of being individuals. They will have the means to leave this planet or devise a way of preventing civilization collapse.

Google probably already has 99% of the information a doomsday blockchain would on nearly everyone in a database that may as well be immutable and indestructible, to say nothing of the other various information brokers. OP here, there is no such thing as a "Core shill" because "Bitcoin Core" does not exist, that is a piece of propaganda invented by BCash shills

Bitcoin is the real BTC, no amount of shilling will convince anyone with a brain otherwise. And nobody who's in it for the tech cares about forks initiated by conmen and greedy miners

Maybe you've just been misled by BCash shills or maybe you yourself are acting in bad faith posting such stupidity, but either way the misinformation you spread is bad for crypto as a whole.

You shouldn't, and trustlessness gives you that ability. This cannot be overstated as enough of a benefit for misanthropic high IQ high functioning autists that just want the rest of the world to fuck off and make sense. It will now be *forced* to buy the globally distributed decentralised trustless market, and no political whining or squirming or childish tantrums and demands will make the slightest fucking difference whatsoever.

The claim that all blockstream claims regarding blockchains being unable to scale past 1mb are ridiculous, and you're either a liar or a shill for spouting it? The very fact you even need to ask demonstrates your ignorance, it's like asking can foot thick steel beams support the weight of a particularly hefty bee hive. 14kbps wasn't fucking impressive in 1992 and it's laughable to suggest it's a reasonable throughput limit in 2018,letalone claiming we need to prune it back to less than a third of that. But that's not even necessary and you don't require the kind of technical experience in the real world that makes it obvious, you can simply look to present empirical reality, plenty of blockchains exist already with a higher throughput than 1mb / 10min and they're doing just fine.
I say again, blockstream and their snakes are slimy saboteurs hamstringing the chain purely because it is in their business and political interests. The only other people supporting their position are fucking idiots that don't know a damned thing about the space and frankly should get the fuck out because all they are doing is shitting it up with their ill informed attempts at participation. You're not a fucking nuclear physicist just because you plug your computer into an outlet powered by a nuclear reactor, stop fucking pretending otherwise, you're just a retarded pleb parroting arguments that make no sense that you don't even fucking understand.

OK, I'll bite. What problems does Bitcoin cash have?
28kbps is no less a ridiculous throughput to seriously plan on than 14kbps.
SHA256 hashing power is orders of magnitude more widely deployed and emitted than any other form of proof of work in the world, which is what dictates the security of well formed chains in question. Which by extension means no alt is anywhere near as heavily cryptographically armoured as BTC and BCH, and because BTC was sabotaged and hijacked, it is merely a matter of time before BCH inherits all that SHA256 power, couple that with the fact that BCH now looks like BTC back in 2013 with the flowing of dozens of promising new products and the absolute impossibility of the toxic core brigade ever getting a foothold in it considering how loathed they are and the future for BCH looks very promising indeed.
