College nowadays is just glorified high-school.

Personally my junior/senior year in high school were actually *more* rigorous than any year in college. Went from waking up at 6 am and sitting in class for 6 hours straight, writing papers and studying for exams each week to getting up at noon, going to "class" (see: listening to some dumb fuck read off a powerpoint) for a few hours then heading back to the dorms. Oh and I have Fridays off.

Exams? There's 2 and they're multiple choice because the dumb fuck professors are too lazy to actually grade stuff.

Papers? If it's not a writing class forget about it.

Homework? 2 hours tops and you have multiple days to do it.

Only real downside is the shit costs 25k/year. Why is it so expensive? Because of this dumb meme that "everyone should go to college" so now the government subsides it and Tyron and Juan get free rides, jacking up the cost and dumbing down the programs.

College is about showing up on time and doing the work. It's not about learning. Your diploma is proof that you can follow orders, keep a schedule, and do your busy work. And I guess that's what a lot of employers are looking for, sadly.

If you want to *actually* learn study the subject on your own. There is an endless amount of information available online, for any subject. And most of it is 100% free. College is where you go to become a well-behaved wage slave.

Having been to neither university nor sixth form, I don’t think I’m qualified to place judgement on the worth of going to university. However, an observation: 3 new starters recently joined my team, all of whom have STEM doctorates (2 from Cambridge one from UCL) and are over 30 years old. I recently turned 24 and I’m working in the same role as them with a bigger paycheck and an upcoming promotion. All of them know a lot more about certain subjects than I do. But clearly success in education doesn’t necessarily translate to success in the free business market.
