post all the jobs you had and your wage/salary in chronological order.

2012 to 2016 grocery store clerk - $8.50/hr
2017 HVAC apprentice - $15/hr
2018 Building Automation tech - $56k/year + bonuses

Almost 2 years to the day that I quit my grocery store job. I went NEET the entire summer, no friends, depressed, and almost out of money. A little bit of trade school really turned things around for me and it only costs about $2k per semester. Investing in education isn't a meme and there is more to education than just regular college.

2014-2017: Product Manager: $96k/yr (started at $65k)

3. NOC lvl 1, 60K+
4. NOC lvl 2, 100k+
5. senior network engineer, 120k+

No joke I went from 50K to 100K+ in probably 2 years. And I don't work any harder than I did back when I was slumming it in a call center in my first shit job.

If you want to progress fast, it's 99% a combination of the following:
- Your resume writing ability (i.e. ability to make yourself sound important and be seen)
- Your interview skills (blasting past all the HR bullshit hoops)
- Alpha mindset
- Who you know
- Persistence
- Continually seeking more options
- Negotiating

All of these are much more important than what you know, your education, your certifications, or your experience. I've seen guys who have mastered the art of talking shit get 100k+ jobs, despite not knowing that much.

Also seek as many options and apply to as many jobs as possible. In my field, there are companies that would offer 70K for what I do and there are others who'd offer 140K+. So you absolutely have to shop around for jobs and follow the money.

They offered me a job after my last internship to work there fulltime after I graduate. It's where I am now. Haven't worked anywhere else. I'm sick of software dev and might move internally into a info/cyber security role soon.

I strongly agree with advice from >>8815334 and see that we had a pretty similar progression over time.

Only exception was that for my third position I ended up taking a job that wasn't within my exact field, but it was similar enough that I could succeed at it and knew I needed the pay increase that came with it. Because 18/hr under my second job as a security analyst was grossly underpaid. As that anon mentioned the salary ranges for almost identical jobs in some fields can be surprisingly wide.

Scope and difficulty of work I did at my forth job wasn't all that different from the fifth one, yet I earned 40k less. Granted this was a shift from public sector to private sector, so that certainly affected things. Public sector for certain departments looks fantastic on a resume though, so I know that alone helped bump me up to current position.

Addendum to this, was NEET for 4 months between Graduation and the FP&A job. Then unemployed for a month and a half between FP&A and my current gig since I quit my job before having a new one lined up since I had saved a years worth of expenses and a toxic work environment was having a terribly negative effect on my mental health.

2010-2012: went to community college for engineering and made money off gaming videos on youtube (approx $10k a year) with plans of going to a 4 year
2013-2014: graduated and went full blown NEET, best years of my life
2014-2015: youtube dried up for me and i was a poor NEET, but was too used to the lifestyle and lived in depression and squalor
2015-now working min wage + tips as a valet.the moneys decent, ends up being around $20/hr.
i have a couple grand in ethereum and a stinky stack of LINK.

i know i have to get a career but i have no clue what to pursue. i didnt like my engineering courses, and im terrified of going back to school and going into debt for something i dont like again. anyone have any suggestions? if im being honest id consider my strengths math and technology, and my weaknesses include beta tendencies, not liking to help people, and low ambition. even suggestions of how to get some motivation would be appreciated

I do enterprise financial risk management in financial services area. It's broad term. People tend to have CPA, CFA, MBA finance or Actuarial background in this area.

There's main areas of focus are: market risk (liquidity risk), credit risk, operational risk, compliance risk, capital management, etc. Shit like that.

So basically the knowledge that daytraders have but they are wagecucking? I've been thinking of going to school for actuary but not sure if its too late, im 27 and kind of wasted my 18-26 years old part of my life due to depression and lack of direction

>> No.8818316

Day traders are totally different beasts than risk people. My job is there because of regulatory purposes. 2008 crisis happened, then global bodies wanted more oversight, hence more risk jobs popped up.

Could change easily... As this area isn't a money making area and regulations are always changing, so risk jobs could be the first to go.

Actuary is good but exams are hard. Best to ask on the actuarial board on career advice.

130k, area isnt money making??

ive always heard actuary is boring as all hell but makes god level money if you can stand it, are you in a sufficiently different field or do you simply not consider 130k as top tier income?

>> No.8818502

>>8818398
Sorry. I meant my area of work isn't a profit center but a cost center due to regulations requirements.

Profit center would be traders, and they trade their best to make profits for company.

Risk area is more of a cost center.. Making sure traders aren't taking huge amount of risk and taking risk that's within the company's risk appetite and or within the laws and regulations outlined.

Actuary makes good money but also cpa cfa mba finance makes very good money as well. As long as you are in the top of your field, that's what matters. I've seen CPAs/CFAs make it huge and way more than actuaries.

2016-Now: Sales Associate/Repair Technician @ Staples (~$9/hr)

I'm in uni working on a degree (Econ/German) and my cust svc job lets me work the hours I want. I'm probably going to be leaving sooner or later because working at Staples is fucking god awful, and I can get a warehouse job paying double working more hours, but it's ok for now. I miss my restaurant job because it actually felt like I was doing something and was somewhat rewarding. I'm only 20 so I don't have a laundry list like some people.

Self-respect, what are you talking about? This is a simple matter of incentives, if you subsidise unemployment people will just take advantage of that. If the fag isn't larping, he's better off than 90% of you wagecuck sucker

>> No.8819967

How fucked wagecuck has become. Most career jobs require a good 4-5 year time & money investment, and if you discover that you aren't fit for the field you're fucked

I live with my mum and wagecuck for $27 ausbucks an hour, save as much as possible. My job is pretty dead end though. I am watching our country turn into a Chinese colony. The Australian male has no chance competing with the Chinese male for corporate cuck jobs. The Chinese male is the supreme conformist.
