My dad went from the rotc in college, to joining the air force, to becoming a government contractor. He's been a grunt his entire life, who has had his free will and independent thought stripped from him at an early age. Am I appreciative of him putting in long hours, supporting a family, and paying for his kids education? Absolutely and I'm incredibly grateful for what's he's done, but I would never want the life he has.

He's also incredibly bitter and resentful of those around him who have made it through entrepreneurial endeavors and those who have less stressful jobs and make more than him. And to top it all off, he "hates economics and everything about it," refusing to DYOR when it comes to investing, what it takes to run a business, and the complexity of the market. As someone who plans on starting his own business, hearing his thoughts on the world and business makes me fucking sick to my stomach.
