Trump has really gone off the rails. He was doing so well his first year, despite a lot of unfair media, but now he's losing it.

Facebook, Google, Netflix, and Twitter are fucking criminals. They are manipulating the public, compromising privacy, censoring, and abusing their monopolies.

Amazon is doing MOSTLY good things. Small businesses are getting crushed, but it's to the consumers benefit. This is regular market evolution.

Amazon is also creating a tone of job and a huge amount of new legitimate businesses with is platform business, but especially AWS.

The bit of evil Bezos did was buying the Washington Post and that is the real reason Trump is going after him.

Overall though, Amazon is a huge net positive for the future of the country.

The only way Trump is going to make it is if he implements reason immigration law, but that doesn't even appear to be on the menu now.

Amazon is not a monopoly in the bad sense of the word. They are a dominant marketplace with superior logistics, but most of the things they sell, they don't own and they do the opposite of monopoly pricing by offering lower prices, not higher.

Everyone used to say the same thing about Costco, then Walmart, and now it's Amazon. Amazon just figured out a way better way to do business within the framework of the internet. Other retailers will end up copying them and Amazon will have competition on the retail side of the business.

Anyone producing an original product can distribute it via the internet. Amazon may dominate logistics now, but competitors will emerge.

The losers in the whole process are the retailers/middlemen and why do we need people in the middle?

Malls like Westbury are trying to innovate by making their locations most experiential, other will try things as well. Adapt or die. That's how stuff gets better.

Hell you already have Alibaba getting there fast. The only thing hindering them is the fact that their sellers are chinese who have a bad reputation here (personally i never once had any issues with them, from my Tifa sex doll to clothing but there certainly are short lived scammers there). Back after WW2 people would say items were Japan quality which meant utter shit like chinese quality was to us a decade ago. But with the growing wealth of China, producers can afford better materials for cheaper which leads to their products being cheaper overall (as shown by computers, phones and basically anything published by foreign brands for a hefty markup).
There's gonna be a peak where Alibaba takes over Amazon in due time, and the cycle will repeat itself with the next nation getting the sudden 3th world to 1th world boost. But that may be decades until then.

The best thing is gridlock. Let the Senate be controlled by the opposite party of the President, and the House by the President's party. Hardly anything will pass and presidential appointments will have to be more moderate. The authority of the executive branch needs to be reigned in too. No more laws granting executive branch agencies broad regulatory power. Most of these regulations ought to have to go through the regular lawmaking process, rather than be dictated by bureaucrats.

And of course losses can be carried forward, so just because a company made a profit this year doesn't mean there's anything fishy going on if they don't have any tax liability.
No one wants to seriously simply the tax system. The temptation to use it for social engineering is too great. The purpose of the tax system should be to efficiently collect revenue while minimizing market distortions and the paperwork and record keeping burden on taxpayers. Using taxes to implement policy goals or to dole out special favors to campaign contributors makes a mess of things.
As for sales taxes, the sales/use tax situation is completely retarded. The idea that taxes should be collected based on the customers address is really stupid. The complexity of keeping track of all the various local tax rates, and submitting tax payments to the appropriate authorities is insane. Also use tax is the responsibility of the customer. If I buy something and am not charged tax by Amazon, I'm supposed to pay the tax myself. That's not Amazon's fault if I don't.
