Despite this though many still look at them as inferior to traditional celebrities but that's mostly a generational thing. I've considered that. Both rigs cost me about $4400 in total to build (I think?). so that would have translated into about 50-100 ETH at the time. Probably would have been a better idea, but it was a gamble either way.

You can't predict the steep decrease in monthly returns any better than you can predict the price increase. At the time, it was the better decision.

And, at least until something much faster than DDR5 comes out (or ETH moves away from PoW), we'll be mining close to the same, regardless of the price in USD. I still think it was a good idea.

Bear in mind, I also bought about $10k+ worth of ETH.
