Its important to be able to get money to get opportunities. The best opportunities often have sunk cost.

There was a guy shlepping water bottles and gatorade outside a convention hall for 3-5$. I looked it up. It cost him 3k for the vendor rights for the weekend. He sold 12x that. subtract water, ice, cart, wages and thats his net.

In Today's Cheap financing market Its important to Maximize Your ability to acquire cheap leverage. The cheapest Leverage is the leverage on your Name, based on your Credit Score. This little number will give you access to opportunities far greater than you can with just cash.
Cheap education financing w/o gov't subsidies
A huge emergency float, I used this book in conjunction with creditboards.com to get 120k in funds.
Seed capital
Bulk buying
Time buyback
This is the fastest thing to give you some small freedom to choose opportunities and avoid retail markup.
This power will fuck you hard if you abuse it and squander the money. Ask me how I know.

Ramit Sethi's - I will teach you to be rich.

A great starting point. His main points are to automate your minimum payments to cards and brokerage/investment accounts. And have a separate account for your max spend per month.
Also a focus on big wins in negotiating your month to month expenses.
If you can cultivate an hour of focus to set up this system, You'll save hours of time down the road on mundane tasks.
I used to have spreadsheets and spent an hour a day watching my financial house. This system is like a roomba. with this plan &
Mint.com
I now check my accounts once a month and it beeps at me if there is a problem. I move some shekels around. All the small transactions are handled. Only one I haven't automated is Rent b/c I don't feel like tying up that cash in a float, irregular income ftw.

Money is the simplest thing in the world without emotions. With emotions involved however it can be an impossible mountain to conquer.
Money is the most marketed product in the world. Even the most experienced people suffer from engineered misconceptions about money.
In that vain I present you with this program by Eben Pagan; Self Made Wealth. It has been tremendously helpful. My biggest fault with money was my failure to use it to buy time efficiently. This behavior came from my do it all yourself father. I also treated several people very transactionally this came from my abused mother. This made it so I could not trust others to act as my agents in the world to proceed in my best interest.

People getting ridiculous raises, lateral transfers from applying the course materials etc... from another perspective as someone looking to hire the best talent its a good way to refine your hiring practices. Good for anyone looking for a job/promotion/employee or who feels underpaid and needs a raise.

Here's a guy who got rich on internet marketing w/ no idea what to do with his army of shekels. So he became a guru and tried to figure it out while selling you on the idea.
Introduces you to a lot of fringe ideas about finance and actually gets flat out robbed in one of them. It was a forex and derivatives "hyper-trade" scheme promising returns in the 1,000% range, by making big bets in fractions of a second market arbitrage. its in pak 3 if you wanna see a solid hustle.

Using life-insurance as a savings account, combining 2 ideas infinite banking i.e. always paying yourself first and Life insurance doesn't get taxed and is lawsuit proof.
Gold and silver

Using International Tax codes

Ask and you Shall recieve. 97% of the completed works of Robert Kiyosaki. His body of work very broad in the financial space and serves as an introduction to most topics. Frequently trounced as useless Mr Kiyosaki's RDPD is that to many "elevated" individuals. Robert says it himself, that was basically the preface to his main body of work. He got suckered in by Sharon Lector into separating all the books and narrowing their scope. He really likes to hear himself talk, and drive points home through repetition. So most of his books have only a few real takeaways. Listen to his podcast once and you'll see what I mean.
His books serve as broad introductions to a broad topics, and he provides some real world context that say a for dummies book does not. His own contributions being minimal but by far the most valuable.
Must consumes are:
The Cashflow Quadrant
Rich woman - Holy fuck she's like 10x more competent than Robert on her worst day
Guide to Getting Rich w/o cutting CC has a lot of fluff removed.
Cashflow Boardgame and the accompanying CDs are by far mvps on this list.
and Guide to wealth
You should familiarize yourself with some of the specific topics as well but keep in mind some of the info is dated and you'll need to do some fact checking before exercising specifics.

With everything I've uploaded a beginner will have probably a decent 3-6 months of work ahead of themselves.

The ultimate goal of the beginner is creating highly leveraged value for someone else. Whether you're entrepreneurial or working as part of a team.

Should you be a NEET, you're going to need EET to eat. To that end I've included the Credit Secrets bible and credit-boards.com. You should be able to finance any EET experience, and spread out its cost. Don't go nuts with this its real easy to run out of money. I'll also give the caveat here that this is not always the right choice, however in today's lending environment the risk adjusted rewards of fixed income loans are miniscule. Everyone I know who can do math is getting as much credit as they can get their hands on b/c the loan itself is net positive income after inflation. If you live in a country where deflation is happening this is probably not for you, and it would make sense to earn while you EET.

Personal Finance is easy and mechanical so its best to let computers do most of the work for you. Ramit's system is by far the best couple hours I've spent building. Once its employed a lot of worry about spending went away and I was able to hit the ground running without pausing to reassess every miniscule decision, like can I afford a meal.

Deciding on a course to take requires specificity. In both where you are today, where you are going and what resources you have available. To those ends I've included SMW and HTGYDJ. These will allow you assess your current situation, plot a very narrow course so you don't waste time, and many of the tools you'll need to get there

Today's labor environment is fucked. Even 1% wage earners should be starting at least a small side gig. Accepting the onus of equity and building an income stream from scratch pays. Doubly so when you fail after a fair attempt. building a side business that fails leaves you with another entity you control.

Allowing you to approach the next attempt with double your initial seed capital. The skills you need to build a business are very different than the skills you need to keep a job. The cross-training however will put you way ahead of any of your peers, b/c you will know viscerally what your employers need from you. Your side company is one of the best parts of your investment farm. B/c its fuzzy. You can "pay" yourself whatever you want. Effectively doubling your income on lending applications, and cutting expenses when it comes to tax time. Getting you preferred rates and lines of credit. Leverage your experience into higher wages. You'll have secured income potential in case you get fired, downsized, or just want a change. For that SA, PMBA, and Earn1k

Once you're earning you're goal is to be moving towards capital growth, which requires cutting expenses, T4HL one teaches easy cooking which is a huge value, talks about health and exercise which are huge as far as maintaining energy and focus to get shit done. communities like >>846895 EER and MMM are excellent at cutting expenses and setting you up for your next frontier.
Capital Acquisition and Risk management. Which I think is a huge topic in and of itself and deserving of its own sticky.
To graduate from this non-Sticky, you will have

2)Applicable soft skills and job marketability
3)Free cash flow from job and business
4)Understand Financial Leverage
5)Have a side gig
6)Have an Intro to real risk diversification
7)Free cash flow

This is someone ready for phase 2
Capital Growth and Risk Management
please review SMW, Speaking Accounting and >>846307

People are going to be after your money in some way shape or form and make you all kinds of promises. Some are fakes and you're probably gonna fail at spotting them a few times.

You're going to need to begin to understand risk. Risk = Expected loss* the expected probability of that loss occurring. So lotto tickets right $1*99.9999999999% is basically $1 risk vs roulette all black, let's say $100 * 49% = $49 risk.

Then comes a simple way of adjusting for risk. Its not the best way just easiest. Return * (probability of Gain* probability of loss) So for lotto ticket its $1M*(.999999999999*.000000000001) =0.000000000000099
vs say roulette $100 * (.49*.51) = $24.99 is your risk adjusted return.

Now where this equation is flipped all over is business b/c we have corporations with limited liability. Say you with $70k decide to buy a business. Lets say its a shitty business and throws off $5k per month. The most you can lose is your 70k. Lets say you ran the business into the ground. Its has a building and inventory. Lets say building is 30k, and liquidation value of 5k. Your ROI is (5000*12)/70k while your return on risk is (5000*12/35k you just made a 2:1 bet where you put up 1 to make 2, with a success rate of better than 50/50 you win. This improves with leverage where your lenders adopt a significant portion of your risk in exchange for interest. None of which (when structured properly) can come back to you.

tl:dr get a business broker and start getting pitched on businesses to add to your asset column.
take the time to calculate your risk adjusted returns and make a few deals happen.
I say build/buy a business b/c you're young and can recover from significant risks, and the rewards are outsized, measured in multiples not fractions.
Paper assets and non-commercial real estate are inferior at your age.

Not OP but this was a really good answer. I am in my early 30s recovering from divorce and plenty of other stupid financial decisions and also living in Australia right now. I have a job paying over $150k AUD a year but no assets, no debt and under $30k AUD and $20k USD in savings. I'm going frugal at the moment and trying to save up as much as I can, would you recommend I follow the same strategy? Where/how do I find a business broker? Thanks in advance.

>> No.847228

Not Australian so I just googled business broker Melbourne.
www.klemms.com.au/
www.aibb.org.au
https://paramountbb.com.au/
were the top 3 for that

also Googled commercial real estate australia
http://www.commercialrealestate.com.au/for-sale/
http://www.realcommercial.com.au/for-sale/

As for you with your earning capacity. I'd save up at least 6 figures, that should give you capacity to go for larger plays, the most specific being the value added play. wherein you are basically repairing a broken down business. The value of a business generally sells for a multiple of some output. They're generally arbitrary rules of thumb, like 3x annual gross, or 10x annual net etc... A depressed business is going to sell devalued in 2 ways, lower multiple and decreased basis. It'll likely be a hellish 6 month repair deal. but you're going to be able to refinance or sell at the higher multiple and basis. Simple strategy wise find the worst place on the best block you can afford and make it match.
Really start working on your credit. You're going to need it.

In USA there's the small business association which lends to first time business owners at low rates. I'm sure there's something like that south of the equator.
http://www.business.gov.au/business-topics/tax-finance-insurance/business-finances/
Anyway business lenders significantly prefer existing businesses over startups. b/c they know exactly what their risk is. They are willing to extend their leverage to about the 8-10x range. And often offer ancillary repair loans. With businesses and commercial RE owner financing is often on the table as well.

tl;dr with your earning capacity you can weather a much bigger storm, save up of few shekels, in the interim. Big deals often take 6 months to a year in just negotiations so its okay to start negotiations now
Your ultimate goal is to own 5-6 businesses before 40 for stability to throw $ at problem business during a bad time.

You don't "follow" index funds and the more you ignore their performance, the better.

You build a portfolio comprised of different asset classes in various proportions. Here's an easy cheat sheet of sample portfolios:

http://www.marketwatch.com/lazyportfolio

Keep tossing money onto the pile and check in every six months. If one asset class gets bloated or shrinks, rebalance your portfolio so you match your allocation plan percentages again.

Repeat forever and enjoy the compound interest.

I would say torrenting is the best way, but depending on your country it might be dangerous.

IMO the best one other than Mega is Zippyshare, since it lets you download multiple files simultaneously without throttling your speed and only giving you a captcha after many downloads.
It has the filesize issue, but I would split the archive anyway for the security advantage and because it makes it easier for some people to download in small chunks.

Also those zippyshare links at the beginning of the thread are still up, so I would say it's safer than Mega.

You sir, are a god.

I feel like every time I have a question I'm just going to make a thread and post pic related and try to attempt to summon 'Li_Shengron" to grant me his knowledge and wisdom.

I doubt you remember me but I made a thread about a month or two ago where I was asking about the pros and cons of buying a house/condo in the 70,000 dollar range and trying to pay it off as fast as possible so as to avoid interest and then also not be making a mortgage payment. Your advice I think really steered me in the right direction. i realized that rushing to pay off a debt of 70k dollars at a relatively low interest rate isn't
as smart as putting that same 70k somewhere that it works for you. I am NEARLY debt free wwith less that 4k left on my car payment. WIth an income of 4k+ a month this is very doable for me and it can be done soon.

As soon as I do I plan on putting a MASSIVE chunk of my monthly pay into the market. I'd like to start getting the feel for these stock trading simulators. I've been reading up on how to do short term trading and trying to get a good grasp for things. I am single with no intentions of getting married or having kids (definitely not the kids, might get married someday). And i make a lot of extra cash on deployment (can't talk too much about what i do but I'm happy to answer questions if anybody has them)

I might have a job lined up with one of the agencies when I get out in 2.5 years (been in for 3.5, wasted all my money being a shithead and drinking but i'm getting my life back on track now starting with getting out of debt and educating myself )

I opened a vanguard account, still trying to decide how much i want to put in that every month. I've also been reading that it's smartest to maximize your contributions to tax-advantaged accounts before doing anything else. My financial lingo isn't super broad so i'm learning as I go, things like IRA's and 401k's were always just something on the horizon for me

Sure CondoDude I Remember Your thread.

As far as Market exposure, check out TastyTrade.com
archives and Dough.com. I follow them because they all have their money where their mouth is and are constantly pumping out tactical and strategic research. They have huge searchable archives. I started watching and any term I was not familiar with they had done a 15 minute module/exposition on it.

Current market is Sideways with a downtrend with many speculators ready to cash in on a crash.
What that means is that the folks who are just throwing money at funds and reading their monthly statements are getting chewed to pieces in the up and down. b/c $1.00 50% up 50% down is $0.75. Eventually many are gonna pull their cash out b/c losing.

Where a lot of the Ben Graham - Warren Buffett cheerleaders go a little wrongheaded is that these men had the tactical knowledge to enhance their strategy. Buffett had hundreds of successful trades under his belt before he built his fund and employed his master strategy of defensively trading under-priced companies on the cheap with high portfolio synergy. In trading the best defense is an excellent offense. What that means is getting in at the right place. As we've seen since the 80s trading algorithms are pretty much psuedo-guidelines most of the time. With Options and other derivatives you can define your risk such that you get paid even when you're a little wrong. Only lose a relatively small amount when you're bass ackwards, and win huge when you're right.

401k's only do when you have employer match. IRA you're gonna want to look at "self-directed IRAs". IRS hates these things b/c you invest the money in a business you own and have full control over the funds. That business invests in whatever you the biz manager says you invest in. Gold, farmland, apt complex, all tax deferred/free. day trade a while and learn the risks for yourself b4 handing over $

>> No.851984

a lot of rules and regulations apply before you have 25k in your account. Also fees are non-trivial before then. So you're gonna want to get to that level as fast as possible after that you've reached the first critical mass and can ease the hustle a bit.
Learn the mechanics of high probability trades than once you know the tools you have at your disposal, you can decide an the best strategy for yourself given your time constraints, opinions and outlook.
Personally though its like composing music. You're not gonna write a symphony without knowing a few chords. Stock and fund picking is like writing it using just notes. Ever just hit random keys on a piano, compare that to hitting random chords.

Do you have any recommendations or reservations regarding simulated trading? I have read that it can create some bad habits if you do it too long.

Next year I'll be making a pretty penny while I'm away in Europe traveling for work, I plan on putting my shit in storage or leaving it with a friend or family member so I wont really have any expenses other than food and the occasional buying of trinkets and shit like that for friends/family members (I got my dad a spear in Kenya last year from a dude I met on the road for 40$ US) With any luck I can buy him kebab in ukraine or something.

I'd like to make the smartest moves I can make while I'm enjoying a time where I can afford to fuck around and be risky with my cash. You're saying I should get an account up to 25k to start doing real trading? The only other hobby I have in life is lifting, I find all of this financial stuff to be totally fascinating. I'm honestly quite hooked on all this shit and I've started downloading your links already.

I was in the military, they're paying for college now, future Doctor fingers crossed. During extended college career, I've started 2 businesses both went under one for time reasons and one for capital and I kind of developed a nose for bullshit after trying this that and the other. Right now I'm experimenting with the Daytrading Options stuff to build my warchest so I can buy into a muse, I think its going to be a hotel/motel. Using student loans to finance that little venture. So far I'm doing good and can see it as long term viable. I've made about 1k on 6k so I'm scaling up with the new semester and seeing how it goes. I was prepared to call it quits if it was shit.
I'm on break between semesters right now and I'm a longtime filesharer whose run out of HDD and time to watch everything so I'm giving back. Its small potatoes to monitor a few threads on 4chang. I guess I'd be a SEET with a good archive to pull from. I'm by no means an expert but I've tried a ton of beginner stuff and found what worked and what didn't. Hmm... I've got nothing against it. I used it so I could familiarize myself with the platform so I didn't do many too many fat finger mistakes. That took about a week. I jumped in with 6k and tried everything I could on a small scale to see what made sense, while watching tasty trade live stream on the side. It helped a ton because they're always there doing trades, side by side , and you're seeing how they defend their positions or how their logic is screwy, or correct. I stopped simulating after a week because I needed to see what commissions would actually be doing to the account in the wild. Frankly they hurt a lot, and I've paid more in commisions than I've made gains, but I've also made 20% in 3 months. Any way 25k is where the brokers and gov't let you take the training wheels off and so that should improve gross, and reduce my costs.
Any way the best moves you're gonna make come from properly applying leverage. However, if you're not at least somewhat familiar with what you're doing; knowing where and how this all fits into the rube goldberg life machine of get money fuck bitches is tricky. So I guess what I'm saying is if you think its worth doing. Its worth doing well. Dive deep on a project so you know how to do it. Then at 3-6 months in you'll know whether or not its for you and and to what degree you want to do it on a continuous basis.

Options, and futures are the free weights of the paper trading world (some risk but stronger over all). While Index and ETF Funds are like the machines ( seem "safe" and for very specialized things) , and the treadmill is mutual funds (gains goblins).

Oh another thing this is a business not a hobby. You should treat it like one. Businesses owners have ledgers. So when you start just get a notebook, and write 3 things down.

What did you do - why did you do it - how did it turn out.

First off you're allowed to panic. There is a time limit though. You get 10 full minutes of misery. After that you've got to get down to busi-ness.

You need 1 real thing. Consistent Shelter.
Your options here are:
Homeless shelter 0$ but thieves, abuse, bad environment, keep all resources in bank or offsite
Trailer, about 2k down 6k loan for an old one.
Car, 2-4k or 0 down loans, Gas,
Room with someone else prolly 1500 First last deposit.
Friends - a few hundred a month
Relatives 0- few hundred

Get sufficient income to support current home:
Get a roommate
Maybe strike a deal with the landlord for work to property.

There are temp jobs in every medium city. You can usually command 20$ an hour more on weekends.

This all really depends on your access to capital. Good credit gets you a trailer or car to live out of. Sell pretty much all your stuff. If you can get enough money to get shelter do it, if not sell all your stuff and move to relatives, friends, other place.

Either way you want to get out sooner rather than later. I land-lorded a bit and let one guy stay to try to get on his feet, he ended up just slow dripping all his cash. He would have been better off just sucking it up and moving with some cash rather than bumming with 0$.

If you can get classed as an independent for federal financial aid, sell all your stuff and go back to school this semester.

You want to avoid being on street w/ no money.

I've been fortunate to be able to fallback on relatives. Anyone with better experience should answer.

It depends man. As per IWTYTBR. Maximize the things you love, minimize the things you could care less about.

That being said. Once you've built a business and you've gotten a taste of money for nothing or nearly nothing a lot more hobbies become much more viable.

If you want to motorbike, you're gonna need a few extra grand a month to go to tournaments all over the country etc... So you hustle hard to buy into or build the muse. once it stabilizes you can just ride bikes all the time or scale up in to bigger and more bikes, bike combos, out of airplanes,

Who are you responding to?

Anyway, I downloaded the files linked in the .txt files on dropcanvas (dropcanvas.com/zpf5p), but I have a couple of questions:
I have the "Earn 1k 2.0" but not the "Earn $1k on the Side" that you linked earlier (that is now down). You say the 2.0 version is better with added and improved content. Does this mean that the 1st version is useless with the 2.0, or this new one is an addition to the first?

Also, what course are you talking about in this [>>846305] post? the link is down and we can't read the title.

And again, thank you very much for your effort. it is very much appreciated.

You're right kid, I was spooked by a big red mean page saying "DANGER". Maybe you should keep in mind that there are people out there not as badass as you or me, that will actually freak at such a page. I mean I will admit that it freaked me out a little and my inner badass took over in a split of a second, opened a different browser to download it, and now that I've realized what I've done; I'm shaking due to the rush of adrenaline. I got in, got the file, and got out as quick as I could. I'll be doing a scan later with Norton to ensure I'm completely protected.

For those of you that are scared, I've uploaded it to a different site and included a virus scan of each:

You are lying to yourself if you really think that 4chan being an "18+ website" somehow stops people from visiting.

And the fact that you (I'm assuming) and I have both read those books during our high school years doesn't mean everyone did.

Also most or at least some of the listed books are, in my opinion, worth reading if you haven't, in the very least to form your own opinion on them.

Whoever created the image aimed it at people who don't read at all, and literature that, as you said, is intended for young people that are just starting to get into real literature is well suited as a starting point.
You shouldn't expect people who, for some reason, missed out on literature start with Ulysses because of their age.

I feel like although the image might not have any relevance for me personally I'm not egoistic enough to dismiss it completely.

So basically you were an edgy teenager that couldn't comprehend the book.

How stupid do you have to be to fail a class like some kind of mentally disabled potato person for the sake of being an edgelord?

Even if you really had to meme about this hard you could have written about how characters are flat or reduced to a single personality trait or you could have explained how their motivations make no sense or how their actions are contradictory.
Then again, you probably lack the intelligence.

Also an analysis is supposed to be devoid of personal opinions, you would have known that if you had spent more time listening to your teacher and less time drawing penises in your notebook.

"There is nothing to understand" just screams "I didn't understand it"
If you are unable to decipher something as straight forward as The Great Gatsby there is no hope for you.
