I work in the trades, make 51k starting working 40 hours a week

After 3 years I will be making 65k + 10k bonus but that involves travelling around places which is gay. Median income for my trade is 130k a year but that includes boomers with like 40 years experience who probably have their own company

Depends on what kind of welding it is. The grunt work type, fixing tractor tow bars won't make much, but the experienced guys who know how to handle alloys and do shit like high rise welding, or underwater welding for oil fields, it's big money.
Having said that, get an AA degree in it at a community college, and learn more than just the basics.

Electrical lineman. I make about 130k a year in Texas which is a shit state for this kind of job because the union is so fucking weak. But, if you go to work in places like buffalo or overseas (or doing storm work for really heavily effected areas like the Virgin Islands) you will be pulling in at least 200+ a year.

Job is super dangerous, you work long hours, and you can’t be a little pussbag though. Everyone gets hurt once or twice and everybody has at least one friend that’s been killed on the line. Very small margin for error in this trade.

My Dad works as a power line technical, no post-secondary required at all. After your apprenticeship you are making at least 120k after OT. He has been doing it for my whole life and can make close to 200k if he has a busy year with good OT. I live in Ontario, but during the Florida hurricane, he made over 20k in like 2 weeks being sent there as support staff for power restoration. His job also has an incredible union because who is going to live without power, so he has excellent benefits, pension, job security etc.

On the negative it can be kinda risky. Just a few months ago, a guy he worked with had both his arms electrocuted off and another group of guys fell out of a helicopter and got sliced in half by the rotor.
