Popular brokers for stock trading:
Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

Interactive Brokers
>$1 commission per 100 shares. $10k minimum to open, $3k if 25 or under. Lowest margin interest. Free API access

He's basically talking about how the average American had become a consumerist whore who had to buy the latest and greatest of everything from cars to toilets to radios, etc before the 1929 stock market crash. Advertisers had convinced Americans that they needed all sorts of shit and that they should routinely get rid of their several years old cars and appliances to buy brand new shit all the time because it supported US businesses and kept workers employed. It became the American's patriotic duty to "buy until it hurts".

I live in an expensive apartment (relative to the rest of the country) because I don't know where else to move to. My gains on the stock market pay for this. Would love to find a cheap house somewhere that isn't crime infested but paying this rent is keeping my money low at the same time.

imo that is the problem with america right now.

Starter family homes are over run by crime and filth. If you want to buy a house that you can afford at a young age it's going to be in the ghetto. Now there are bunch of people in their late 20s-early 30s living at home with mom and dad because their only option is to buy a house in a complete shit hole or to rent out a place and stay stagnant forever.

My first huge gains came from buying firearm company stocks during the Obama years. Got into them because my city was trying to institute a ban on handguns, so I went out and bought a scary looking evil AR15 instead. Noticed the shelves were mostly empty (bought the last AR in my city actually ^_^) and went home, bought a whole lot of RGR and SWHC shares (now AOBC). Made pretty good bank 2010-2012.

What I'm getting at is, buy stocks in companies that you know about.
