An oracle is an external source of data.
The oracle problem is that they are not trustless.
It's meaningless to make a trustless contract work with such data in 90% of the use cases.
Chainlink claim to have a solution to turn the external data into a trustless one. Afaik nobody else does.
I do not own Links because the devs are socially retarded and this is an hype market, but if chainlink fails, crypto fails.
