I want to get a laptop for exclusively trading crypto on reliable exchanges. Are thinkpads still the way to go? What linux distro is most secure? Anything else I need

Guys I got a $200 lenovo ideapad a few years ago and the trackpad is horrendous with Ubuntu installed... is it just because I bought a shit tier machine or is it like this with all Lenovo's. I'm used to my 15 inch MBP 2016 so maybe I'm just spoiled. The great thing about linux is there are probably no drivers to speak of to fix this shit.

Windows to me is nothing other than a vidya OS... I use a mix of Mac and Linux in my day to day work although the Linux is mostly remote servers that I ssh into from my Mac... I don't have much experience with linux desktop environments but I just want something where the mouse doesn't skip or glitch up when I use the trackpad. Are the 1k+ thinkpads any better in this area?

Older thinkpads are based as fuck. Mines ran for 9 years without a single issue. Dropped it from 4 metres onto solid concrete with nothing but a few scratches.

Most secure is probably TAILS but it's live only so probably not as useful. Any mainstream distro with SElinux should be safe enough.
