What are his career options now, /biz/? What would you do?

>> No.622074

i'd provide an online anonymity consultation service. i've spent a lot of time fucking about here on 4chins and learning how best to stay anonymous online and avoid all manner of e-malice, but moot has to know all kinds of shit i've never even thought of. i'd pay handsomely to attend that seminar.
what would you do in this undeniably powerful, once-in-a-lifetime position, anon?

It's not like he still doesn't own 4chan. He's just not admining it.

>>622074

Yea basically giving talks and stuff, also if he wrote a book that would be huge.

>> No.622155

>>622067

First I'd contact a publisher, let a ghost writer write some sort of autobiography.
Then try my best at becoming somewhat a of a public figure by doing talks etc. Probably not that hard for a guy like moot to get an agent or something to arrange the whole thing for him.

Bascily, I think there's other people out there who can make money of moot('s face and name), and I'd let them do it and take my cut.

I would go crawling back to my "volunteers" and say I wasn't thinking straight when I attempted to retire.

He doesn't work full-time on 4chan and he would be netting a smooth 50k/y from the site. Not a lot of money for somebody who lives in New York but more than enough to get by if you don't want a lavish lifestyle which I'm sure m00t doesn't.

This site gave him power and e-respect. He had a wildly successful startup before startups were cool. If he wants to try other things in life he could do that while holding onto 4chan.

For his dumbass sake I hope he hasn't removed himself completely.

He could consult and command like $5k day rate.

>>622577

He still owns the site, he's just not spending the time to admin it. And while 4chan has kept going for a long time, I don't think I'd call 50k/year "wildly successful" by startup standards, especially when we have VC money being thrown around like it's literally worthless at companies that don't have a way to make money.

The catch 22 of 4chinz is playing out right before our eyes. Stricter moderation will allow legitimate ads (would I want my company associated with cp and other questionable material?) to finally come here. But more moderation would possibly be the final nail in the coffin, every other thread would be sjw this, shill that, anonymoose will not stand for capitalism faggotry and exponentially more stupidity than what there is now. That may actually force my stupid ass to stop wasting so much time here.

This shithole is dying already, with most reasonable people limiting their time here because the newfag cancer has metastesized. But hey, if you have the perfect product to market to maladjusted autismal retards and naive 12 year olds, buy a banner ad and get rich baby!

The captain should have gone down with the ship, when the ship finally sunk for good.

That being said, I don't think he has a good resume to attract any kind of business-oriented job, and barely any to attract mid-tier technical jobs. He's only shown that he knows how to copy scripts and code, and every startup idea beyond 4chan has been a complete multi-million dollar failure.

I know he's lived long enough to become the villain, but I think his golden years are through. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw someone post "look I found m00t!" 1 year later in a Wal Mart manager outfit

Paul Dano as 'W.T. Snacks'

Funny thing is, the story is pretty much exactly the same. Some kike stole an idea from somewhere, and had an accidental success due to various unforseen reasons. Zuckerberg stole it from some fags at his university, moot copied the source code of 2chan.

Hell, they're both working with the government to pawn off their users data, and they both log everything for government access, too. You could just fan-dub every occurance of "facebook", from the facebook movie, and you wouldn't even need to replace that fag Jesse Eisenberg's face, because he looks kind of like moot already.

huh, didn't know that. awesome. the owner of lemonparty is rich as fuck because of his buying and selling of domains, he sold one for 80k. fuck, he only paid 2 grand for lemonparty, because the dude who owned it wanted a dirt bike. used to talk to the dude online. i myself once had britishrail.com and tesco.co.uk one click from being mine; i almost nabbed them before domain squatting was outlawed.

as for why he hasn't monetized... well he's not fucking stupid, so i assume he has in fact monetized. it's so ridiculously easy to make money if you have shitloads of traffic you can channel towards people. it'd be so easy to create a second site, coat it with ads, then link it here frequently... and not be banned for spamming, because well, god can't be banned. it's one of a million ways in which he could make money on the sly, and i think after over a decade of having huge amounts of traffic, he inevitably must have at some point. go see how much google charges per 100k uniques sent, now go look at 4chan's traffic stats. my biggest sites had 7k uniques a day, now 15ish years ago and 13 years since they were taken down, and i still get cheques from adultfriendfinder amongst others.

not much now, but it's over a decade later. i get cheques once my referred traffic whose subscriptions are on auto-renew (yeah seriously, many people still are) reaches 50 bucks, so every 1-2 months.
those cheques used to be huge as fuck... but not as huge as the payments i got from a porn site which no longer exists. was all legal girls made to look loli. for every 16 people i'd send, one would pay 40 bucks for an account, and i'd earn 50 percent. if moot sent all of 4chan's traffic to one site like that, at those rates he'd have made $1,338,986,477. google isnt much cheaper. he hasn't made nothing.

new, seriously, I would do this:
I'm a regular user in /g/, and we /g/ users have noticed that /g/ is, in practice, a mixed consumer/technology board. I would have created a new /consumer/ board and told people to go there and ask for suggestions (not just for technology stuff, but for anything: clothes, movies, whatever). how to monetize this? give them affiliate links somehow. like, have people working dedicated to giving suggestions or something, or adding your affiliate ID to every amazon link, or simply asking users to voluntarily following a link so that the cookies would get set and they would be giving money to 4chan, and so on.
