Honestly fellow cyptofags, are you not investing in xrp because of moral reasons? (not a true crypto) or you genuinely think it will fail?

I have most of my money in ripple (as well as a few other altcoins), I am seriously considering buying more each week for the next few months..... Should I sell soon or should I HODL?

>> No.6029258

I'm not buying ripple because I came to cryptography wanting decentralisation, control over my private keys and a fair open source personal bank that no one can fuck with.
Sure I invest in other mostly decentralised shit coins, but I usually take my profit and put them straight back into the most decentralised coins.

Ripple is non of those things so I stay away.

Normie confirmed. Do you even realize what is circulating supply?

Keyword "hypothetically"

I am asking to see if it truly is a moral thing.... And if people truly believe in the decentralisation of cryptos, etc.

I honestly don't like ripple because its concept is just not very innovative. It's no platform like ether or neo, doesn't aim for a community driven project, doesn't provide an anonymous currency experirnce without regulation. If I would want to support a blockchain that provides cost-effective transaction without losing much money then it'd be LINK, PAY or UTK. Ripple is just regulated bitcoin with banks as partners. That might be lucrative, but imo no one wants really to use blockchain as currency and even then there is already enough out there with lower fees.

ripple will stick around. but this extremly huge xrp supply the ripple foundation holds is a massive turnoff for me. even that they signed voluntarily with themselves that “sell off into market plan” agreement: they can still theoretically flood the market at any time and more or less “control” its upper limit. like a gun constantly being held to the head of your savings. other then that its good tech but its +90% for banks, dont forget that.

if ripple were to reach the current bitcoin price at $17k it would mean a total marketcap of $1.7 quadrillion with all coins released, or $660 trillion with the current coin supply
thats just unrealistic even if multiple big banks start using it, the burn-rate of XRP is too low to expect price to increase even slightly as the years go on

Its not even a moral thing, its an economic thing. Decentralization of products and services as well as money and contracts. On a network secured by proof not trust.

Ripple is none of these. Ripple is a centralized payment network with nepotistic validator selection that adds utility only to traditional finance. There's nothing revolutionary or disruptive about that.

If you think all these projects that work on blockchain give a fuck about Ripple you're out of your mind. Companies that work with this stuff understand what Ripple is. When people realize their gains in crypto, they take them in bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin, monero, etc.

People realizing fiat gains are for anything besides spending immediately are doing this crypto thing completely wrong. Ripple is at best a fiat currency.
