Most stackers do not have debt. The general advice is to extinguish debt first, and stack afterwards.

I think everyone that cares is holding their breath until 7 tonight when the markets open.
I would expect a modest correction down to where we were on Wednesday testing the bottom. Then another charge up by the weekend. But if it goes down or up significantly, it will help to know exactly what is going on.

I know my fingers will get itchy around 60:1
I'm hoping it hits 35:1
In fantasy-land it hits 20:1
Realistically, I think it could get to the mid-40's.
My plan is to start giving real thought to it in the mid-50's.
I heard it went to 15:1 during the 1980 run.
If this is true, we have a situation that could go in the same direction.
I'll be thinking about making moves when we hit 55:1
Until then, I'm just going to stack and watch.

Not to disagree, but I'm thinking about how much of that is just part of a fund, or otherwise just a boomer scheme investment? I mean, if they default and hand out worthless dollars, how much of that difference will be put toward chasing the metal versus just getting more mutual fund bullshit? Certainly more than 1:1 but it can't possibly be the 1:400~ that the market invented up.

Because of this I believe a default would crash the market as all the other stocks and assets are bought in mass. It will still mean a phase where physical becomes wildly "valueable" compared to a worthless dollar, but in a healthy (non scam) market I can't see physical ownership going up much more than its current ratio on the paper market when all other assets are considered.

I'm not a specialist for the US silver. But in general you should not buy jewelry or objects in silver. You can go for coins (junk silver or coins like maple leaf) or bars (but not below 100g because the premium will be too high).

Coins are easier to sell, bars have lower premiums in general

>Is offering £300 for 10 1oz coins worth it?
The current price of a 1oz silver coin on chards.co.uk is about £32. I wouldn't mind buying 10oz of silver for £300, but I have no idea if the antiques place you are at would accept it. Do these coins have custom designs? Or are they commonly minted coins?
I think that an offer of £300 for 10oz (assuming these are commonly minted coins) would probably be fine, seeing as the current spot price is around £24-25.
Offering much above £30 right now might be pointless, seeing as you could just get a similar value online, in bulk. If you want cheaper prices, you could try your luck at purchasing silver from ebay, but I wouldn't trust a large number of offers on the site (do not order anything from a chinese account, they are always fake, there is no reality in which you will be sold a genuine 1oz silver coin for less than £20).

I don't want to get into an argument about silver versus gold and speculation about the unknown future, so I'll only post this and then let it go. People fart out patents all the time and nothing comes from 98% of them. Also, industrial uses come and go. Silver was once in huge demand for photography. That demand is all but gone, and the many patents associated with it are nothing but historical artifacts. Meanwhile, remonetization of gold is underway and if it goes global, it will leave ALL industrial use in the dust. Money is half of almost every economic transaction on the planet. If gold becomes money again the demand will be tremendous.

So, I repeat, demand is difficult to predict. Relying exclusively on supply for predictive purposes is using an equation with a missing variable. The answer cannot be obtained with any degree of certainty.

That is why I stack both.

You're right to be skeptical of channels with sponsors but it's kind of hard to avoid in the stacking community. You're just gonna get small channels of dudes going through the same talking points while showing off their stack.

I think Arcadia Economics is pretty good even though they're sponsored by bullion resellers and Fortuna silver mines. They've been covering price manipulation for a long time and the guy who runs the channel published a book that compiles interviews from insiders covering JP Morgan's short game in silver.

I also like andrew maguire's channel https://www.youtube.com/@KinesisMoney
Even though he shills his own bullion trading platform, he's one of the main JPM/HSBC whistleblowers that's been talking about this shit for a while.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Maguire_(whistleblower)
He's one of the few people that's been screaming his head off about BRICS gold revaluation. His analysis is really dry so don't expect exciting price predictions.

You should also tune into any channel that hosts andy schectman. He's got his own bullion selling business but he has useful insight into what's going on in the retail and whole seller spaces.

My copypasta:
- For new generic bars, note the premiums (added charges) over spot: they go up for smaller pieces.
- Some beautiful generic items are priced comically high (Germanias, GSM special editions, e.g.). Regardless, dealers may categorize and price these as "generic" (below or at spot) when buying them from you. Or your gamble might pay off if they become highly regarded (Englehard, PAMP, antique miners/refiners, e.g.).
- The firsts of new artful or theme bullion series are often missed by later collectors, who may pay high premiums to fill in gaps. Caution: political or cringeworthy themes are less likely to appreciate.
- Low-mintage series are often priced very high, but may in time increase in value the most.
- Gov't-issued coins cost least during the mint run. Once ended and dealers run out of stock, their prices often jump, then rise a bit faster than generic silver.
- Annual changes to overall designs become series (Somali elephants, Canadian Wildlife, Australian kookaburras or koalas, island nations' series, etc.), adding potential appreciation.
- Maples, Eagles, Wieners, Britannias, etc. are nice and boring, but recognition helps sell to customers more comfortable and confident buying them.
- If you buy pieces that appeal to your sense of art, taste, and interests, you will still appreciate them even if the price or value of the PM goes nowhere. Caveat: if you go to sell, it's harder to let go of them.
- Shipping is an added premium. Many online vendors offer free shipping for purchasing a minimum amount (commonly $200). Your local coin shop has no shipping to charge.
- Vendors may charge extra for using a credit card. That might balance (ebay!) if your card offers cash back.
- Keep all sales receipts and a spreadsheet of your purchases to track profit/loss: it's quite revealing and may help guide future decisions. Example ("PurchaseRecords" tab):

If you wanna hold precious metals, you gotta think long term. PM may not make you rich, but they will always be a safe haven. Price doesn't really matter, because in 30 years any PM you bought now will be worth much much more. So waiting and hoping for gold or silver to drop by a few cents shouldn't be a big concern, unless you have thousands to spend. Don't think at stacking metals (gold especially) as a way to make money: it's more about preserving your wealth—your current buying power—for the future, and perhaps making some extra on the way.

Since the dawn of civilizations, gold is what humanity agreed to use as a form of currency, to store and show their wealth. It will always hold value until there's a functioning society. Silver is more influenced by its industrial use, meaning that its price can quickly spike, and is (usually) slower than gold to catch up with inflation and economic crisis in general. Platinum, palladium etc. are even more unpredictable, and you should ignore those for now.

So start with gold and silver. Research the topic and decide how much you should own of each. Is always good to diversify your investments. So called "junk silver" is often the cheapest and a good way to start your adventure. It will also help you understand how real money is and should be. In the US stores will normally pay more for your stuff: (gold) Buffalos and Eagles. But at the end of the day, buying the cheaper coins you can get (aka the ones with the lower premium) is not a bad advise either. So Maples, Britannias, Krugs, depending on the store. 1 oz coins are often the sweetest spot, but you can also find gold coins like Sovereigns and 20 francs with very reasonable premiums, but are more affordable (they are ~1/4 oz or less).

Also always buy from reputable stores, especially when you start.

That's likely not possible, what would that even look like ? Not sure who "they" are. But let's just assume there is some all-powerful elite that can simply set the price at the COMEX at will and that they set the price at $5. They are going to be feeling very lonely very quickly because silver producers will not sell at that price. They will either stop selling entirely (in which case the entire global industrial silver consumer market would rise up in protest) or, more likely, they would find another market. Nothing is forcing silver producers to sell through the COMEX. They can sell directly to industrial users or on a competing exchange, which now exists in China. What remained of the COMEX would be raided by arbitrage and simply go out of business.

JPM's little spoofing game occurs in the margin between what buyers will pay and sellers will accept. If it gets pushed too high, buyers will go elsewhere. If it gets tamped too hard, sellers will go elsewhere. Although there is short term manipulation at the margin, there are still market forces at work between actual users and actual producers. Those market forces have produced a competing metals exchange in China. In short, NOBODY can simply set the price of silver as low as they like. And the only people who could set the price as high as they like would have to corner the global market. And that would be very difficult and only temporary.

People are not buying enough from dealers to make an impact
they can only do a surge because its less than 10 million people in america buying silver every month
Think about it

Its mega rich people buying 10s of thousands of ounces in a single transaction multiple times a month thats driving prices of the physical supply due to that supply drying out

Silver squeeze bros, I understand that paper silver suppresses the price of physical silver, but is it really that suppressed? In the 1940s, the nickel content of a US 5 cent coin was replaced with silver due to wartime shortages - in other words, it was less rare than nickel, or at least less valuable at the time. Up until 1964, a US 25 cent coin was 90% silver. A tube of toothpaste in 1940 cost 50 cents, equivalent to around 11 grams of silver. 11 grams of silver in 2024 is already twice as valuable valuable now relative to a tube of toothpaste, and we're talking about fancy toothpaste. Why should it be higher?

Nickel is needed for steel or other alloys and they weren't lobbing missiles that used 30 pounds of unrecoverable silver each at the other guy back then, it totally makes sense that they would've valued nickel more at the time.

The toothpaste comparison is dumb, but paste has undoubtedly benefitted greatly from economy of scale and improved manufacturing efficiency since then. This is an argument that silver should cost more rather than less.

Based on a 5.65 silver in a pre-1964 25 cent coin, that would be 3.39 grams of silver, or about $3.50. Presumably that is how much a portion of goyslop costs. Why is silver hundreds of times more valuable now, in your view?

You can start talking about sody-pop and malted milk now if that's preferable to answering the question.

>>58507033

toothpaste isnt a commodity. As for actual commodities, they float against one another for a reason. Iron mining and silver mining are totally different industries with different dynamics. It makes no sense to peg their prices together.

Silver was as low as possible as it could ever be in the 80s-00s because we lived in a stable multipolar world with infinite growth, massive returns on index funds, bank interest, etc. etc. you would have to be a fool not to use your capital to buy property and index funds. 40 years later and the stock market and property is so inflated you barely get any returns compared to what you used to + global population and gdp growth is stagnating, world order is collapsing, countries are moving away from the petrodollar and seeing america as the only country with any power.
Its about buying an asset that could see serious upside and is anti fragile to any kind of collapse or decline in the world. Thats the idea anyway, I'm not 100% on it but its a win win, if we see infinite gdp growth you'll probably be okay anyway, and if not your silver will go up in value.

Yeah but look how the market closed yesterday in China. The shanghai physical silver arbitrage is very profitable right now; The Chinese are paying a high premium for delivery of physical, sucking up as much silver as possible through the LBMA (over 1500 deliveries yesterday). Things are getting pretty interesting.

Those apps are useless regardless. Get a real tester like a Sigma if your stack has gotten large enough that you're concerned about fakes. For the newcomers, for the most part it's near impossible to buy fakes when you're buying from one of the large online bullion dealers, especially if it's one of their newest stocked yearly coins direct from govt mints, such as eagles, maples, brits, krugs, weiners, so on. Usually that's only a concern with their older stock, think old generic bullion bars, so on. There has been a case or two where someone received a fake bar from JM Bullion, and I'm sure it's no different from the rest of the big online dealers, where they sold a fake bar that either fooled all of their extremely expensive and very thorough testing equipment, or just plain slipped through the cracks somehow, maybe one of their guys drank too much the night before, who knows, but that is an extreme rarity and pretty much a non-factor if you're buying anything from 1 oz coins or new rounds to new kilo bars.

Yeah of course, both spot prices are determined by derivatives, that doesn't make it any less significant. Especially when you consider Chinese and Indian buyers are standing for delivery on these lbma/comex contracts. If buyers on the shanghai gold exchange are offering to pay a higher premium and stand for delivery, it means they want to suck up any available gold and silver in the west. This is price discovery, the manipulation is becoming more apparent. They're taking advantage of the fraud and using it to stock up as much as they can. Whether they're going to be able to collapse the comex before or after their new monetary system is officially announced remains a mystery but this isn't something to ignore. Obviously the "paper price" doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things but it's important to pay attention to how things play out within this game the banks are playing.

Most of the contracts are coming out of london from the lbma. The comex delivered 31 contracts and the lbma 1077 just yesterday. Most commodities traded on the comex aren't meant to be settled with physical delivery because they only have a fraction of the total amount needed to cover all open contracts. Even just a few dozen a day is a big deal.
This video documents the entire process of attempting to stand for delivery on silver:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjwU2JJbekM&ab_channel=ArcadiaEconomics
TL;DR even if you have the money to buy a contract (5000toz) and manage to find a broker that even offers physical delivery, you'll get jerked around eternally. The hoops you have to jump through are insane.
