I swear if he's gonna pull a Lagarde and backpedal on his cut prediction, he'll be forever remembered as the "cuck of wall st"
Can't he be just a bit more cautious? what's up with everyone being so "sure" that it's "seasonality" and "we'll cut this year"

So did the market pump on higher future rates? Cause what else did he say? He evaded the bad cpi reports. Focused solely on PCE which is a meme.

Jobs market, c'mon. Numbers are being revised down by 30-40% (359K=> 229K or something). 100k of those jobs are health care and government.

Rates are definitely too low.
FED should've hiked way past (positive) 8%.
Look at le free markets mocking the Fed's conviction and interest rate policy by discounting any US government debt past 12 months duration by quite a lot, actually.
The Fed funds rate where it is at the moment is still accommodating, not even frigging neutral. Dimensions away from being restrictive...

Yeah Micron is legit giga retarded. Half the revenue, twice/thrice the stock price... makes sense. They themselves admitted they won't recover until late 2026 but you know... the market is forward looking right?

FED looks at PCE because it's easier to bring down. The basket is a bit different from normal inflation. Shelter for example isn't such a big deal in PCE which benefits FED and makes their job much easier.

The market keeps pumping because it keeps getting good news. The rates are not restrictive (I would even say they are conducive for mega caps) and inflation is low enough for even FED to be pretty dovish. The economy has stabilized and tech is growing exponentially. The market just wants to keep pumping

That's myopic.

The way to get inflation down is to convince people to stop spending dollars willy-nilly. Powell's half-anxious but confident tone today was perfect for discouraging spending while also discouraging speculation. If you want to spend while speculating? You can simply buy into the stock market. And he discouraged both of those actions today, believe it or not. We need both.

I really have no idea where SPY goes from here. I think it's wholly possible that we keep pumping for no reason until next CPI, just to make it that much gnarlier and uglier and to ensure that much more lives are ruined when the institutions finally press their fingers on the scale. It's gonna be ugly. But it might not happen tomorrow. Fuck our puts.

Start thinking about rolling your puts or just getting strategic. They're fucking with us. False breakout on the SOXX today. But if the retards want to pump it forward, they'll pump it forward.

I do think there's some politics going on here. I think Powell really wants to have a handle on inflation. He wants to do a good job. But I don't know how much that's his mandate or Biden's mandate, so to speak.

I think Powell gives a shit, though, and that's why I believe him. Even if the market doesn't. Even if the market fucking ignores him every time. He basically said, "Don't go crazy. Let's wait. We're confident but not confident enough."

to be fair i have no target and i currently have no positions just closed out of some calls yesterday. took a long break most of this year. i have no idea where price action will go, no one does.
but what we do know
>market is rallying
>market is highly euphoric
>we just came out of a brutal bear market
>semiconductors and AI industry is currently exploding upward
>currently a war going on for AI/tech supremacy
>only really being hampered by sticky inflation
>USA wants to dominate tech/ai
>apparently US wants to see 50% of global semi production localized

the smart move would probably just go all in on semis/tech and hold it for like at least 2-5 years. a tech heem is likely to come at some point but in that time we could rally for as long as the bear market lasted.
the tech/semi industry is positioning itself for the coming decade of AI/robotics dominance. fabs and shit being built all over
