Redpill me on hoarding shiny rocks. What hoops do you guys need to do to actually exchange that to some liquid assets in a moment's notice without a million questions on how you have those shiny rocks? I can access BTC right now faster than gold, that's why I was asking cause last time I checked it, when I talked about wanting buying gold, I got a ton of questions as to why.

>durability
Isn't gold not known for it? Especially a pure one? It's malleable right? What kind of durability are we talking about? Never rusting? Yeah resistant to most acid.

>familiarity
Sounds about right at the moment

>fungibility
Yep that sounds right too

>independence
Maybe I guess?

>stability
Well if it's a store of value maybe, but for actual trades it's definitely not.

>scarcity
There's a literal planet a few light years away that's made of gold and isn't there a scientific study that we can easily find gold in asteroids in the asteroid belt? It's just "scares" in this planet cause we don't have a way to synthesize gold at the moment due to how heavy it is atomically.

Yeah kinda

Well yeah apparently world reserves change every 100 years and the USD is more than 100 years. But the world already moved away from gold since like 500 years ago and gold standard since Nixon. When 51% of the network votes to increase supply, it gets increased. Then there's ETH, AVAX, XRP, DOGE...
It's all synthetic. I can create "doggy poo poo butthole coin" at will and rugpull crypro kiddies with a clever social media campaign. Silver and gold have thousands of years of recorded history as stores of value and a medium of trade. All those BTC mining apparatuses (I am somewhat of a BTC believer) require gold and silver to be manufactured. Your phone? Gold and silver required? Your computer? You guesses it gold and silver? Now how much bitcoin was required to manufacture what you're using to post here...?

For most of human history there was nothing MORE liquid than silver and gold. That changed only very recently with the spread of the US dollar which was, ironically, made possible because it was fully-backed by gold until the big rug pull. But the existing system of money created out of thin air at ever-accelerating velocities is doomed to fail. When it does, people will be loath to accept another vapor currency. Silver and gold are likely to be very liquid at that time.

As for now, don't buy silver or gold if you think you are going to need to turn around and sell it right away. It isn't that kind of asset. But if you DID need to sell because you made a mistake, it is as easy as walking into a local coin store, putting it on the counter, collecting the filthy paper dollars, and walking out. Nobody is going to ask you why you have it. The exception might be if you had some rare numismatics that had been reported stolen. Then you might want to have a bill of sale.

If there was a In-n-Out burger near me, I'd go the at least two times every week and have a bacon cheeseburger with some big tasty fries. Sometimes I would eat the meal right then and there, and sometimes I would take it home.
I would do this at least two times every week.
I would keep doing this all year long.
I would keep doing this and eating big tasty delicious cheeseburgers and fries. Sometimes I would get a milkshake, but usually I would just get a soda, like maybe a Dr. Pepper or a Mr. Pibb.
Every week I would do this, all year long. I would just keep doing this until one a cute young and charming girl who works there would notice me. And she would think, he's so based. I wonder if he likes me.
And I would be thinking, oh this girl is so cute, I hope she doesn't think I'm a loser.
But she would smile at me in a way like she doesn't smile at anyone and then I would know. And then one day after she does this at least two times every week for a whole year, I would ask her if she likes the friestoo. And if she says yes, I would ask her if she wants to share an order of fries with me someday.
Then she would smile even more and say yes. Then we would share an order of big tasty fries and there would be happy butterflies swirling around in my stomach the whole time. After we finish eating and she has to go back to work, she would ask me if I could pick her up after work, and maybe we could go to her place and put in some overtime.
When we got to her place we sat down on the couch together and she would ask if I like the In-n-Out, if you know what I mean. And she tells me she wants me to go In-n-Out with her, if I know what she means.
And like this we would go In-n-Out at her place at least two times every week until she got pregnant. That's when I would tell her I am prepared to take responsibility.
But I don't have any of these things happen to me because there is no In-n-Out Burger place anywhere near me.
How can the world be so cruel? I ask.

But since you are new, you should not be buying any rare items. If you stick to run-of-the-mill bullion, you don't need a bill of sale or even any ID. And yes, buy from reputable dealers. And like this I would her hot-n-juicy at least two times every week until she got pregnant. That's when I would tell her I am prepared to take responsibility.
But I don't have any of these things happen to me because there is no Wendy's place anywhere near me.
How can the world be so cruel? I ask.

If you are buying gold as an asset to protect wealth, you will be buying coins, rounds, or bars sold by weight of gold. So you wouldn't buy $100 in gold. Not sure what you mean by $100 in gold? The gold you will be buying is sold by weight. Usually ounces or fractions. Some gold is pure, some - like American gold eagles and krugerands - is alloyed with silver or copper. But the weight of gold content will still be an ounce or specified fraction.

$100 is not enough to buy gold without paying an unacceptable premium. If you want to buy precious metals and you only want to spend $100, buy silver. There are some really beautiful silver coins and rounds out there.

Dunno if you're still here, but... the face values on many gov't-issued coins are not meaningless to everyone in terms of investment.
Many private mint will solicit sovereign nations (often banana republics and shit hole countries) to endorse their "coin" by lending their official stamp on them. This will help many collectors avoid taxation for buying outright bullion. Many countries have all sorts of tax laws about much precious metal and of what type the coin contains. Buying a generic bar or round might trigger a value-added tax (VAT) or when selling you be taxed different amounts for gains when selling. Having a gov't endorsement increases the appeal for buying them as investments to those who live in such countries or states.

I’m a long time stacker and a millennial. My parents, aunts and uncles (boomers) all had a horrible, degenerate obsession with trying to save a few pennies on things, and, in the process of venturing out into the dark web, lost their savings.

I’m not trying to be an asshole but this really is a boomer problem. They’re so greedy they’re willing to gamble on scams, which is why they’re infamous for falling for these scams.

It's with this kind of retarded nonsense you immediately lose all credibility anytime you open your mouth.
EVEN if i was making minimum wage doing this, where would be the issue exactly? Ebay isn't my first source of revenue, it's just for fun.
I'm my own boss, "work" from home only when i feel like it, and i'm having fun doing so. If i want to take holidays tomorrow i simply have to click on a button. I'd gladly take this over begging Mr Shekelberg for a miserable pitance in a wagie cubicle even if it was for x5 this salary.

>What I know from firsthand experience is that penny pinchers and coupon clippers stay that way forever.
I know it may sound weird to most ppl of your kind, but money isn't important to me, as long as i can sustain my lifestyle i'm happy. All what matters to me is living by my own rules and keep my dignity intact. Which imply not going through the hoops of humiliation rituals i see my friends are facing at their big boi jobs.
I don't get from where you assumed i was a "penny pincher", but what's wrong about it exactly? Saving resources when & where it can be is like human civilization 101.

I even provided a personal story as to why this issue is important to me. The boomers in my family have ALL been scammed online because they’re cocky and think they know better than scammers.

The premiums on junk silver have come down substantially compared to several years ago. So on that relative timeframe the price seems far more reasonable as if a massive influx of junk hit the market. I think bullion still has better prices if you look hard enough though.

No, that's literally the opposite of what we said lol.

Poor people stay poor because they're focused on penny pinching, subdividing what they have, hoarding it, and not using it.
The Law of Attraction means they're shouting into the void:
>"I'm POOR AS FUCK! I NEED MORE PENNIES!"
and the universe responds accordingly...

Meanwhile someone investing all of their extra money into a business, their education or even financial markets will become rich. Because instead of pinching what they had, they used it to make more without being fearful of having nothing.
The Law of Attraction for them would be:
>"I HAVE SO MANY WAYS TO MAKE MONEY! MY OPPORTUNITIES ARE GREAT!"
and the universe responds accordingly...
