Seriously FUCK this piece of shit. I locked in the price back in November 2021, thought I was so smart, laughed at everyone else bleeding out during 2022.

But now I can't unlock the price. Turns out certain batches of Trezors have a hardware defect that prevents users from unlocking. So now I'm fucking sitting here missing out on my dreams, watching the price skyrocket without me.

Man, I work on protocol level blockchain shit and I always advise against these hardware wallets.

They're actually awful.

Before I left my last job I warned them that they need to stop using these hardware wallets because once those adapters stop working with browsers, they're in deep shit.

Obviously they can download older versions of chrome or whatever, but these things a destined for failure.

If you want true security for your shit. Backup your shit with something like Vera Crypt. Only mount the files inside of a virtual machine.

Backup the vera crypt partition in multiple cloud services.

This. You have to configure your kernel with the TREZOR_UNLOCK_ENABLE parameter built in. Which sucks because it adds like 3s to your boot time and you can’t build it as a module. But at least you can redeem

A VM doesn't protect you if your host OS is compromised. You are exactly the kind of idiot who should be using a hardware wallet.

In the rare/unlikely scenario that old hardware wallets are no longer compatible with modern hardware/software, you can just get a new hardware wallet. Is this another meme post?
> Backup your shit with something like Vera Crypt.
In the unlikely scenario that your computer has malware, it can see your keys whenever you type or paste them.
>Only mount your files inside a virtual machine
This doesn't protect against all or even most kinds of malware. You should actually suggest to use a bootable USB but that's much more inconvenient than just using a hardware wallet which comes with other advantages.

Hardware wallets also protect you from malware wallets because you can verify the token address, receiving wallet etc. all on the hardware wallet. Using a hot wallet but saving your keys on Veracrypt doesn't protect against this.

>>57948536
Veracrypt is probably the most common and normie friendly encryption software out there.

This is true.
A VM only keeps software from breaking out of its container to infect the host.
If the host is already compromised, it does nothing.
If you're using something like QubesOS then you'll be OK because its built for this sort of use case. Very unlikely for the host to get compromised unless you purposely go out of your way to bypass all the built in security protections

How is it locked? Are they actually keeping the liquidity to pay you full price if you want to redeem it?
Or maybe it's just farming type thing where it's you who provides liquidity but at the price set at the moment of you locking in.
In any case it sounds shady and I don't really believe it's safe.

>> No.57953191

Trezor has partnerships with the top exchanges to pair buyers and sellers using the price lock mechanism. So there's someone out there who put in a bid for my coins at $68k, I can sell the coins to them at that price and insure myself against a dump.
