Oil bros, what are some good sectors/companies now the oil hype has died down?
I own a nice chunk of Shell, but don't really see an attractive alternative. I also already loaded up on (European) insurance companies and banks last year so no room to expand there. If anything I should maybe lower my exposure to banks if an economic crisis happens, but their valuations are just too good.
I'm maybe thinking about expanding in industrial companies or mining companies.

I haven't looked into Russian companies because of the obvious reasons.
I would look at dominant companies with a big moat, rights to mines, that produce stuff that is currently expensive or growing more expensive
After that I would go and try to find deals for mining and or oil companies during a down cycle when the revenue is suppressed and I can get them on a cheap.

Petco is a specialty retail store, from what I have seen most retail stores with a few exceptions are trending downwards even with earnings beat. In the case of petco they broke even in q2 and missed in q3 and q4 doesnt look much better.
Throw in the handful of other petstores that offer more services and dont have a name association with suffocating excess animals in plastic bags and you have a recipe for a loser.

Yes. Cheap pet food is pretty bad, actually. The cheapest I would ever go is regular Purina. If you aren’t a broke loser I would recommend (1) Royal Canine, (2) Science Diet, (3) Purina Pro Plan, which is a completely separate company than Purina under the Mars umbrella corporation. You could also try the more specialized diets with certain proteins (kangaroo is unironically great for the GI tract of most dogs). But you will see hugely diminishing returns on specialized diets if your animal is otherwise healthy. Just pick one of the three brands I listed. They are all more or less the same high quality.
