I've made so many "Internet friends" over the years and never gotten anything out of it. My life hasn't improved even after becoming close with all these people. Everyone has their baggage, vices and trauma they eventually unload on you. Everyone is stuck, their advice means nothing since they don't know what to do with themselves. Humanity as a whole is in some kind of purgatory I guess, because whenever I try to forge a relationship with someone else I just become disappointed on how non-additive they are to me in any way, shape or form.

Being nice and trying to help other's makes you happier. When you're happier, you're less likely to to make bad trades and more likely to focus on positive futures instead of dwelling on negative pasts.

Because the fact is that most people have little value, objectively speaking, and of the ones that do have objective value, the incentives to give you access to that value have to be there or else they won't waste their time. It's simple economics desu. The only unconditional value comes from your parents, everything else has strings attached.
