You will never retire buying bon ETFs. Not while the Fed devalues the dollar, and the government runs larger and larger deficits every year.

any leafs here? I never did taxes on my own but i think i gotta stop relying on my parents since i dont want them to know i have a big TFSA $$ now

if I have $42K in tuition tax credits carried over, does this mean if I paid like $30K+ in taxes I will get a refund of $30K+? Maybe a bit less since it's a federal tax credit so really only on the federal portion, so prob only $15K+ but still nice

didnt think I'd be able to max out my TFSA this year, that $15K+ would really help a lot to giga maxing my tax-free gambling, hope im understanding this correctly

Big Lots is in trouble. It's quickly returning to be a profitable company or it's bust and they go bankrupt. Shorts are betting on the latter, with 22% of all outstanding shares shorted bankruptcy is looking likely.

But what if BIG is getting profitable? After 6 quarters of deeply horrible negative EPS figures, things are starting to look up, $0.16 positive EPS for Q3 due to "gains on the sale of real estate and related expenses" and EPS is expected to be strongly improved YoY for Q4, retails strongest quarter. Next to this inflation is still hitting hard and consumers are ditching TGT and WMT, favoring budget stores instead.

Currently BIG is trading close to ATL and in Q4 2023 Michael Burry (Scion Asset Management) bought in with 225,000 shares, per the latest 13F.
Share price as of last friday is $4.62, making it a cheap gamble. Of course there is a meme short squeeze element in play as well.
>Price/Sales (ttm) 0.02
>Price/Book (mrq) 0.34
Once cost savings are in and EPS is profitable, P/E ratio is expected to go to 20-30, same as Dollar General, Dollar Tree, TJ Maxx, Ollie's, Wallmart, Target.
Share price targets with expected $100M annual net income:
>P/E ratio of 5: $17.11
>P/E ratio of 10: $34.23
>P/E ratio of 15: $51.34
>P/E ratio of 20: $68.45
>P/E ratio of 25: $85.57
>P/E ratio of 30: $102.68

Are you really going to stand by the consensus or instead listen to the FEDs words. Also they're still pricing in a full 100 bepis which is absolutely retarded still. Most people don´t just whore themselves even if it´s prevalent and common place everywhere. In europe we just brought in south americans and balkanites after there were not enough of our women taking up those jobs. I think that is prevalent in countries were there is poverty coupled with large income disparities, so when you take the case of Thailand, they whore themselves to westerners that are richer than them. I think it´s more evident specially when young males are also whoring themselves too.

The alarm bells are louder than ever before. If they don't raise rates inflation is coming back harder than ever and creditors are going to become very angry. Nobody gives a shit how shocked the peanut gallery is, you really think they'll fuck over The Jew by letting all our debt get hyper-inflated away into nothing? Rates stay like this all year, inflation increases in spite of it, then they have to raise rates anyway, or they raise rates early and crush it. More likely they just fudge the numbers until election and Trump is left holding the bag of flaming shit than is the US economy.

Not surprising. I still poke my nose into the local Big Lots but ONLY when I have a coupon. I used to go there at least bi-weekly. Their prices are not as good as they used to be and their selection has drastically declined. I used to find organic foods there regularly and now, not so much. They used to carry more international foods, too. The business model seems to have changed. They took an obvious turn toward catering to the EBT crowd with their selection of shelf-stable foods, and then added a freezer section loaded with bullshit. Kind of copying the modern Dollar General model. Then once the store was packed with those people they jacked up the prices to where they’re comparable to drug store prices. When I do go in there wagging a coupon the place is practically empty. I mostly just buy La Croix if they have lime, but again ONLY if I have a coupon. I would not be surprised in the slightest if they close.

>usually selling assets like this is a last ditch effort before going down the convertible debt spiral. They're going to have to pay rent now instead
True, so far they sold their California distribution center (Apple Valley) and 23 stores. But if they survive long enough and scrape enough cash for business liquidity and paying rent, Burry may be interested because there is an opportunity for an extremely aggressive share buyback play.

>Q3: $46.6 million of Cash and Cash Equivalents and $533.0 million of Long-term Debt under its $900 million asset-based lending facility
>The company has $159 million remaining under its December 2021 $250 million authorization.

CEO on preliminary Q4 results:
>Q3 guidance: "Expect quarterly year-over-year improvements to continue through 2024; Project Springboard on track to deliver a high proportion of the $200 million+ benefit in 2024"
>"I am pleased to share that we delivered fourth quarter performance in line with our guidance on comparable sales, gross margin rate, operating expenses, and inventory. In addition, we generated substantial cash flow in the quarter, which was used to pay down debt on our $900 million asset-based lending facility. We look forward to reviewing full fourth quarter results in more detail in our upcoming earnings call on March 7."

$BIG currently has a market cap of $135M and ample liquidity thanks to the high 22% short interest. If in the following quarters they can reduce their losses and scramble enough cash for A) general business B) debt down payments and C) share buybacks they can buy up to 99% of shares outstanding. It's a very high risk play as their current net loss is $-463M (TTM) but it would allow the company themselves to take advantage of their low stock price (price/sales 0.02, price/book 0.34), making potential returns for shareholders exponentially higher should they manage to return to their historical annual net income of $100M+.

That’s right… it’s trash.

I remember reading an article (which was probably propaganda) saying that the treasury yields "don't always matter" because even though it's inverted now, the Fed can use other tools to navigate the de-inflation. Still, it's not a good sign that short term assets are outpacing longer term ones. Or I suppose it's not necessarily "bad" to hold the long term ones, there's just a positive feedback loop on short dated ones, so everyone is greedy.

As far options and derivatives, I saw a thing that suggested writing deep OTM puts causes the most potential for a gamma squeeze to the market makers, who have to hedge that, and that particular contract fucks everything up in another feedback loop.

My personal tinfoil hat theory is that this is a way to cause a financial upheaval that results in using the Basel III / SDR system

I was over at my dads house the other day helping with some household chores. He lives in a very rural area of a very red state. At the end of the day we went to one of the nearby country bars. It’s the kind of place that farmers, truckers, fentanyl addicts and the working class go to unwind with a cold one.

President Biden was on the TV and the local gun store owner said to his auto mechanic (friends since high school),

“You know what? He ain’t so bad. The economy is recovering, nobody’s rioting, and we’re standing up on the world stage again. Can’t believe I’m saying this but Ol’ Scranton Joe’s got my vote this year.”

I looked around and all I saw were heads nodding in agreement. I heard a few calls of “Yes sir” and “Damn Straight” from the men around me. Even saw the lonely ball cap wearing farmer in the corner raise his drink with a nod.

Prior to their recent trouble, they were profitable for fifteen years straight. Early in the pandemic, Big Lots did amazingly, but management made a lot of poor decisions later on like buying back shares at all-time highs. They also erroneously expected pandemic buying trends to continue. When buying normalized after the pandemic, stores were left with bloated inventory which they then had to off-load at a loss. Their furniture supplier and inventory problems are now behind them. They've also managed to get their SG&A expenses back under control, which ballooned after the pandemic.

Most of the problems they have faced, besides their furniture supplier, are really a result of management thinking the COVID boost in sales was a long-term trend when it obviously wasn't. The bet now is whether these problems were temporary or if something has actually fundamentally changed with the company.

Steel and defense EU stocks have already gigapumped. But yes, they will continue pumping. This supposed war is such an insanely good business for the EU and the US and of course for India. I am always so flabbergasted when I see those pathetic politicians and big corpos feign sympathy for Ukraine when they are making billions off of it.

SSAB, Rheinmetall, SAAB, even some Czech defense stocks, they are all making insane gains and despite that are still undervalued as hell. Low P/Es, huge divvies, massive cash flows, and insane demand. Despite the technical recession of EU countries, steel and defense is and will continue to giga outperform

All I know is there will be an ever growing need for NIGGER SHOCKERS, and 2020 increased it because of there being enough demand for sea change against just outright shooting them. The one company handling both the NIGGER SHOCKERS and the insisted upon body cams was the perfect combo.

>yeah i dont see any of them as having real space investments. LMT and RTX and such have some obviously but even then its not much beyond gov contracts for stuff. not consistent products like other industires.
Yeah, the best way to play it might be BA/LMT/RTX/NOC bought around the time major NASA or Space Force contracts are expected to be rewarded, but I have no idea when that shit is.

>starlink going public might be a good one to grab, and spacex obviously but they are still far away and not much demand for spacex still.
0 chance. Elon's said that's earmarked for funding Mars settlement.

One problem is that space technology is still not that profitable to be in the stock market.

It's just like AI, it took 70 years of research and trillions of tax dollars from world goverments for it to finally be good enough to invest heavily. it will need to reach the point where it can give consistent profits, capitalism can't take the first steps it can only make it reach it's full potential.

About 100% if they're something like NVDA.

And about 0% if you're looking at Alcoa and saying "look, they sell aluminum for server racks! That makes them an AI play!".

DE is not a space play and won't be until we've got a couple million people on Mars.
