Is $110k a decent salary in NYC? Planning to live in Upper East Side. Not trying to spend more than $2.5k in rent. Also don't really party anymore. Hoping to date and settle down while I'm there. I'm turning 30 this year.

You can afford to work in NYC on that salary if you commute from LI, CT, Upstate NY or soneplace like the Rockaways. You will not sniff a Manhattan apt. for that rent, you're either a retard or a troll. Also keep in mind nothing you see online is real, you will have to pay a RE agent 2 months rent fee to find you a roach infested shitbox in Queens at the end of the line above a rub'n'tug in Corona.

It's over OP. You have no idea.
You will likely end up with 3k minimum rent.
Every girl standards are the WORST in the world. The only convenience is tinder will give you access to the hottest rich 18-21yos who are still leashed in their apartments.
If you are going to do this do not come in expecting a normal life because you will be cancelled or sued by a girl.
Get a cheap apartment, stack crypto, live utterly frugally, don't spend your money on anything except falafel and mexican food trucks, make your own food, and ignore everyone. Don't listen to a fucking thing a faggot says. Heil Hitler and don't say a fucking word to anyone. You have no idea how psycho this place is. Hey I lived in NYC for around 15 years. I think you can get by on $110 but it’ll be really really tight. So much of how to enjoy that city is in the nightlife and going to restaurants and stuff and that all gets really expensive really fast. You should be able to find a studio for $2.5k I think still, yea. Subway $132, anticipate $500 for groceries, another $200-300 for utilities so you are at like $3.5k/mo or $42k on basic needs. You’ll have around $75k post taxes.

I would anticipate another $1-1.5k/month on going out expenses, so let’s say another $20k to be safe.

That gives you around $13k cushion. Realistically you might wind up spending all that if you are doing stuff regularly, but the point being you’ll survive as a single guy.

For reference I left to have a family. I make $200k and now have 2 kids and there’s no fucking way I could survive in NYC off that.

Pay $4k for 690sqft in Upper east side. Have a doorman and my apt is nice - but it is bare minimum. NYC is awesome, but not a place for long term comfort. Grind it out and see if you can make some extra cash. Things to consider are cost of doing laundry if you dont have in unit etc. may be better off with a studio which would still be 3k for a nice one. Think about moving to Astoria, Queens instead - it’s much cheaper and still good neighborhood vibes - safe for most part and more locals and less yuppies. UES is yuppie central - luckily they’re the good yuppies who actually have jobs and work/ have family/old people - unlike Williamsburg Brooklyn with the insufferable hipsters. 110k is tight - might need a roommate. I live with my wife, and we are both higher income $150k+ for both of us. So 1bdrm living is comfortable for us

If you were my friend, I'd tell you that you're making a mistake moving from one city to another, especially at the behest of a company offering you such a low salary. The women are not going to be any different. People are leaving NY state en masse after the covid bullshit. You're moving into a grinder. Any young man that feels the need to ramble from Miami to NYC for no other reason than a simple change of scenery is rootless. This stems from a lack of a strong father figure. You have no template for that strong masculine kingly energy of lording over a plot of land, and so you wander from city to city seeking belonging. I don't say this to hurt you, I'm earnestly trying to give you my perspective. Men who are happy with their lives don't migrate far from their support network. If you have none, then moving to an entirely new city in the hopes of finding that missing piece is an understandable, albeit pointless endeavor. What you're looking for is support from a community and people you can trust. City denizens are the exact opposite of that. It's like looking for lunch at a mechanic shop.
