It's literally the same cycle EVERYTIME and almost no one sees it. The halving this round is going to jump the price so much it'll pump almost every crypto on hype alone. Just like every other time. Like clockwork.

>Why aren't normies talking about crypto?
For the sane reason they aren't talking about Contracts for Difference or ETFs.
The only time the general public talks about crypto is when it is featured in the media just before the market crashes.
The only time anybody has brought it up in conversation with me unprompted was in late 2017 and late 2021.
Afterwards they forget about it for another few years.
Also never talk about money, your earnings or especially crypto with anybody.
First of all it's dangerous to reveal you have money not just from the security stamdpoint but from the point of view of relationships.
People will start treating you differently. Some people will become surprisingly resentful. Others will try to get money from you. Or they'll expect you to help them.
Just keep your mouth shut.
The only person who should know how much money you have is yourself.
If you decide to pay taxes, that will also include your bank manager, accountant, and the taxman.
No friends or relatives or neighbours should ever know anything.
If they end up investing due to you and lose money they'll blame you.
If they make a profit they'll be irrotated they didn't make more, or they will forget you advised them and instead believe they are brilliant investors and you'll never get any credit.
Whenever crypto ever came up in conversation I just acted like I didn't know anything about it

I think part of it is anticrypto people have done a good job of promoting "crypto bad" to the general public. This makes the average person afraid to talk about it since they don't want the crypto stigma. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people are quietly researching or getting in since the generally shitty prospects for the average wagie makes desperate measures like buying crypto more appealing.

yeah I'm getting a plan for it in place, involving multiple off ramps to USD. Coinbase, Crypto.com, PayPal, Robinhood.
when it's time to sell, I'll use my hot wallet to swap all of my alts into BTC and/or ETH, then will transfer those into my KYC off ramps to convert to USD.
I'm also making sure I have a backup plan to keep everything on blockchain by swapping to a stable coin. I'd rather not add the complexity, but when the time comes I figure I'll only have a few days to lock in profit before the knife falls. Up is slow, but down is fast.
In 2021 I timed it well enough to take a down payment on my house out as profit, but I should have liquidated everything to USD or stable coin, then DCA'd it back in.
I'll do better next time.

Bitcoin has underperformed largecap tech stocks (nasdaq index) since it's peak in the 2018 bubble. It's now 6 years since then and the price has merely doubled. A bit over 12% annual gains.
Looking back to 2021, there was an everything bubble due to massive US dollar stimulus between PPP fraud, unemployment that paid people more than working their job, and multiple rounds of $1k+ checks mailed out to all the wagecucks. Most of the attention bitcoin and crypto at large recieved during this peak was just memeing on the insanity of it all. Dogecoin was almost a dollar. It was/is a blatant pump and dump, but so was the way our government was treating the dollar.

Now, two years later stock markets are on the verge of breaking new highs once again, and yet bitcoin is still down 30%. The reality is that bitcoin and crypto at large has already reached peak hype. Expect gold-like returns going forward, as both are limited-quantity assets with a dedicated following and zero real yield. Maxi zealots will tell you otherwise, but they've deluded themselves with mental bias because shilling new buyers is the only way crypto goes up. Shit like halving, ETFs, and the continued USD inflation mean nothing to the world at large, because they've already seen crypto, had their laugh at NFTs and will never look back. The next big thing is now AI.
