Why are europoors literally the poorest people compared to all the rest of the world (Japan, Canada, Australia)?

But, the term "poor" is literally baked into the name europoor. I've seen it multiple times in this board

OP is making fun of the retards that say that Europe is poor.
Europe that the best quality of life on the whole planet, of course it couldn't be poor.

- Average europeans pay relatively high taxes but many of their actual costs are "free" (paid by those taxes). Thus the actual difference is in reality smaller.
- Most people have their wealth in real estate and I think at least in Australia the real estate prices are crazy, thus making australians "wealthier".
- aaaaand lastly...Australia, Japan and Canada choose who they let to move in their country thus most of them are immigrants who are highly competent in some field (thus getting job and starts accumulating wealth). Europe seems to let everyone in who just manages to say "asylum"...There are some signs that this is about to change but this has been going too long.

Why would you use the median like that's representative of the wealth of a country insted of the average?
Legit question.
I now Spain has a GDP per capita of 30k USD.

>> No.57256195

>>57256152
Because the mean is skewed up by very rich people who are very wealthy. The median would be a better representation of middle class.

>> No.57256230

>>57256152
If you want to judge the wealth of an ordinary person, median is considered to be better. US is the best example of this. The wealt inequality is massive and the few rich are so fucking wealthy it significantly alters the average numbers.
Each measure has their cons tho. Pick your poison.

>> No.57256252

>>57256152
The median is better than the mean if you want to know what the average person is like. As the other anon said, averages are skewed because of very rich people

>> No.57256309

>>57256252
The average wealth in Spain is 30k USD while in that graphic the median is 100k-150k USD. If by "ordinary person" you mean "average person" then the mean is literally giving you the average.

>>57256195
This I can understand, the middle class (owns a house) in Spain having 100k-150k to their name sounds more reasonable. While the average being 30K because there are a lot of poor people with nothing to their name.

I make 2000€ after tax a month working fulltime in a job I went to uni for. So that’s bad. That being said I only spend around 800-900€ a month living a life that I am happy with (outside of being forced to work, I would rather spend my time on my own terms…) and with saving 50% of my income each month since I started working I was able to accumulate around 300k in crypto (also due to gains obviously) and around 50k€ in a global etf and some p2p credits. I don’t have debt and I’m not a consoomer so that helps. I think after this cycle by Q3 2025 I might move from fulltime to part time so I can have more time to practice Spanish and then move to a nice warm place for early retirement in my late 30s/early 40s. That’s the dream at least. Good luck to you regardless of how much you earn, there are ways to make it on your own terms.

You're confusing gdp per capita with wealth. They're not the same
Median wealth in Spain is 107k dollars while the average wealth is 224k

>Why would you use the median like that's representative of the wealth of a country insted of the average?

Average = a dead rat, eight homeless hobos, and one guy with 10 million = average person is a millionaire.
Median = a dead rat, eight homeless hobos and one guy with 10 million = median person is a hobo.

Average only helps with knowing the amount of money in circulation per person, but not with the expectation of how much of this money a random person you encounter is likely to have.
