All i heard during the 2020/1 bull run is how all of the 2017 run coins were boomer and ghost chains and only retards hold on to last run coins. What's changed? Is it because most of /biz/ is bag holding and coping?

You're basically spot on. There were really no L1s to build on back in 2017. If you wanted to start something you were building your own chain.

Fast forward to 2020/1 and people saw those tokens with propriety chains get decimated. HNT was a good example of this. By late 2021 they're native blockchain was holding on by a fucking thread. And because times had changed and there were legit L1s to build on, they and many other teams made the smart decision to migrate elsewhere.

I think a lot of the OG crypto purest still see having a native blockchain in 2023 as a badge of honor, so they'll bag hold till the very end and then get pissed when the token inevitably migrates to eth/sol/polygon/etc.

Some of us are going full schizo era of 2008 while still embracing the fact that new tokens will probably outshine doge anyway. You can love the previous age of crypto while still honoring the future, like SPX does. At least that's my choice
