All dividend payments are taxed as income. It's pretty reasonable for most people to keep a few thousand (myself $15,000) because it acts as an emergency fund for rent payments or other unforeseen expenses

Anything more than that should just go into stocks. If you feel nervous about timing it just buy a broad index like VTI/VT

Uh depending on your income you may not even pay any tax on the brokerage account. There's a bracket list floating around that breaks it down. Then if you hold the stocks for longer than a year you get a tax break on it. Also capital losses can be used to offset any gains. (1500 single/3000 married per year). You can carryover this on a year per year basis if its over 1500/3000 till the loss is wiped clean. Ex: In year 2023 you lose 6000. You can carryover this loss going forward till that 6000 is gone. Which if married that means 2 years of breaks and if single 4 years.

Well it helps. Combine it all and it adds up. 401k contributions knocks down your taxable income. Standard deduction helps some. The capital loss knocks it down more. Long term cap gains even further. Then course the fact if that final number is under a certain amount then you pay no tax at all on the brokerage account. For married people your combined income has to exceed I think 89,000 a year before you pay tax on brokerage accounts. That's countable taxable income not gross income.

>South Korea watchdog intensifies crackdown on China-linked notes. Probe highlights investing trends in South Korea, where an insufficient pension system and a penchant for risky trades have prompted speculative bets
>South Korea’s regulator will launch a wider probe into local banks and brokers that sold exotic notes linked to Chinese stocks amid concerns that the securities may saddle investors with heavy losses.

>Authorities will start investigating 12 institutions on Monday to determine if there was any wrongdoing over the sale of equity-linked securities that are tied to the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index, according to a statement from the Financial Supervisory Service. KB Kookmin Bank and Korea Investment & Securities are among the firms that will be probed, it added.
>About 15.4 trillion won (US$11.7 billion) worth of the equity-linked securities will mature this year as investors couldn’t meet the requirements for early redemption, the FSS said in the statement. How pro-China they are depends on the dominance of which anti-Green party wins. The KMT is the most China friendly as they want to keep an appeasement policy with China and silence pro-Independence rhetoric as most of their party members have businesses on the Mainland.

Terry Gou was supposed to be aligned with the KMT but he put a bid in for presidency as an independent. Seems all these pro-China guys are splitting the vote.

>Terry Gou, a Taiwanese billionaire businessman and politician, is the founder and former chairman and CEO of Foxconn, the world's largest contract manufacturer of electronics. He founded Foxconn in 1974 with $7,500 in startup money and a workforce of ten elderly employees.0 Gou announced his bid for Taiwan's presidency in August 2023, blaming the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for taking Taiwan to the brink of war by antagonizing China, which claims the island as its own territory.1 In September 2023, Gou resigned from the board of directors of Foxconn, days after announcing his bid for Taiwan's presidency.2

Usually it would be bullish but...they told me that for the last several months, Whirlpool and even their competitors that sell fridges, washers, etc. have all been struggling because consumers are tapped the fuck out lately.

So I would argue that its way more bearish right now. Imagine how much worse 2024 will be for tech and appliance companies.

What a fucking day at Home Depot, Yesterday 3 wagies got fired for stupid shit.

Today I kid you not, 4 more fucking workers got fired;
1)early 20's zoomer was talking mad shit at the store manager and got walked out, he was here for over 1 year
2)late 20's idiot got high and drunk before work and fell on his ass over a paint spill, failed drug test because you don't fuck with forklifts while drugged, was here for 3 years
3)The worst of all were 2 boomer women. One was a bookeeper that was fired and ARRESTED for embezzling $190k+ over 9 months, the other got kicked for not keeping tabs and making sure shit didn't get stolen from registers. Both were here almost 10 years.
