If you had no crypto and $85k in the bank, what would you do? What's a good risk/reward?

Depends on your risk level of course, how much of that 85K are you willing to lose?

Can you live normally if that 85K becomes 40K in just 6 months?

yes, high risk as long as I can justify the reward and keep 6 months as an emergency fund

There is no reward guarantee, you can literally just lose money. That's the risk part.

Once you know how much of that 85K are you ready to never see again, then you know your risk tolerance

Memes about gambling aside, if you're going to buy crypto then just get BTC. The direction of crypto within the overall financial system looks like it's going to be a volatile asset that's separate from the rest of the financial system, and BTC will be preferred because of its "digital gold" properties.

Also don't bother waiting for a correction; you don't know there's going to be one. Just don't freak out and sell if one does come after you buy, just ride it out.

if btc pumps, everything else will pump like crazy soon after though, much outperforming. Would 75% btc and 25% risky dog coins make sense? btc I could see a 3x and dog coins only if I thought there was a chance of a 100x while selling half every 3x

the other risk/reward that seems it could make sense is to go for something with a higher multiple like link, avax, ada I could see get a 6-8x from here >>57104237

>if btc pumps, everything else will pump like crazy soon after though
People think this because they note the alt-/shitcoins that do pump along BTC, but plenty also never pump, fade into oblivion and nobody talks about them any more.

The coming BTC ETF also makes things qualitatively Different This Time, I personally know quite a lot of people with high income who invest in boomer stocks and ETFs who'll buy some BTC through an ETF if they don't have to deal with sketchy crypto exchanges and after it's been "legitimized" by the ETF.

25% isn't too bad for meme coins and as long as you don't try to treat them like a long-term investment and take profits, but I'd personally go all-BTC for crypto investments.

most popular large/mid cap alts are pretty much synced up with btc just with more volatility, so buying large/mid caps can be seen as a way of buying leveraged btc without the risk of liquidation if you were to buy leveraged perps

obviously the lower down the mcap list you go the riskier things get and the higher the chance your bags dont pump or you get rugged, etc
but if you stick to larger caps like the big l1s/l2s that have active ecosystems, these risks are mitigated and the principle risk is just the higher volatility vs btc

if youre a speculator and youre very confidently bullish on btc, I dont see any reason to buy btc, just buy one of the "safe" alts
the only reason I can see to deal with btc "directly" is if youre a day trader

>> No.57105764

>>57105662
which l1s/l2s would you particularly recommend? would you diversify into a few of them and spread them evenly or just pick one?

>> No.57106168

in my current opinion (subject to change, take with a grain of salt, Im still in the process of making my picks):
least risky option: 90% eth + avax split, allocate 10% to something more speculative like mantle, arbitrum, optimism
if you want bigger potential gains, look for this cycle's avax/matic, fresh l1/l2s with big potential for ecosystem growth (degen yield farms) to draw in a lot of liquidity
in this regard mantle looks very promising to me
arbitrum and optimism are both from last cycle, but their tokens were released only recently so at a glance they look like they have a lot of room to grow

sol seems very overhyped to me atm, matic is from last cycle and I have a feeling it might get overshadowed by other entrants, bnb strikes me as sketchy, I just stay away from it for reasons I cant articulate
but regardless if this is a full on bull run, all of these should perform well

>> No.57106289

>>57106168
Thank you. Do you have any opinion on Chainlink? That's the only thing I held like cycle and I got about a 10x from buying it in early 2020

Otherwise, I think splitting between avax, mantle, arb, optimism - seems like a pretty safe stack.

Assuming you have no crypto, how would you enter the market? Like buying $1000 of each every week?

>> No.57107336

>>57106289
I would jam 50% by EOY then slurp dips with the rest. Your greatest risk at this point really is just missing out entirely. You'll be fine in L1/L2 tokens, prob won't hit a million but you'll be most of the way there.
