My big motivation for getting into Aduro is I wanted to find stocks in pyrolysis and this is the most affordable one to me :)
The fact that it also looks to be the most promising in terms of results makes this a long term hold.
They can recycle mixed plastics and require little to no cleaning of it (or sorting), and according to their latest shareholder meeting, impurities such as resins for labels actually assist in their process.
Once their technology is proven scalable they will likely be leasing it to other companies, so there won't be any overhead in building facilities.

Depends how you did last year, and the year before that.
Objectively you underperformed this year, but perhaps you took on less "risk". If you made money last year, then you have some defense of your current underperformance.
It's also useful to consider what metric your own return is being evaluated against. If your returns combine a stock portfolio with a portion sitting in cash, then you're in a different playing field. If you have some short term need to spend that cash, it's unreasonable to lock it up in a volatile trade. What is the composition of your portfolio?
