>I have a bot running 24/7 buying and selling for a 0 target profit just to waste IRS manpower and money when I do my taxes.
>I print and send the IRS all the documentation about my trades in paper form to stop them from automatizing the process with a computer program.
>I mix blank pages, double prints, ghost prints, mark/write in them, etc just in case they have a way to scan and use some sort of recognition software to trivialize the work. That way they MUST look at thousands upon thousands of pages individually and see random schizo scribblings, swastikas, drawn dicks, etc while doing their job.
>It's a whole pallet full of shit so I hire a guy to forklift and send the entire stack because I assume it's more troublesome for the IRS to deal with it that way.
>All the documents are numbered but I pack everything "randomly" (wink wink) in case the timeline of the trades is important. I leave the first trades of the fiscal year at the bottom of the pallet AND at the bottom of each box so they now have to bend the knee to deal with boxes before they even start looking at numbers.
>My normal trades are also mixed in so they can't just ignore everything. I pay a tax managing company to make sure everything is flawless as I assume whoever has to deal with the bullshit extra work is going to triple check everything to fuck me over as a form of revenge which unknowingly increases their work load further for no real payout.
>This costs me thousands of dollars every year. I make sure to send the invoices of how much all the processes cost me wrapped in the pallet so that whoever is in charge of it knows I'm wasting the equivalent of three months of their waging doing asinine shit.

I've been filing my taxes with tons of defi trades (200+ pages) for 3 years now and have not had a single problem. Put all of your addresses/exchanges/etc into a crypto tax software - they're about $100 each and you should use two or three and see what comes out. Go with what looks the most accurate. Then give that to your accountant, and yes, you need an accountant. You don't necessarily need a crypto one, since you've done all of your crypto taxes yourself with the software, but get a boomer that has been doing this a long time. Have him file and mail in your returns.

I've had years where I've made like 170-200k and owed 50k in taxes and years later everything is kosher. The first year I was super stressed about it and even intentionally overestimated how much I owed by a few thousand dollars only for the IRS to send me a letter saying wow gee whiz your calculations matched exactly what we had too lol.

Just do your best to estimate everything as close as you can if there is any vagueness, spend the money for professional crypto tax software, hire a boomer accountant. You will be fine. A friend of mine even got a letter from the IRS saying that they underestimated and that their records indicated that they really owe 2k more than they reported, and guess what? they didn't get audited, they just had to pay what the IRS said they owed. I also have a jewish friend who apparently did not report his memecoin profits for some dumb fucking reason and owes the IRS over $200,000. Not all jews are good with money.

I'm going to guess they want more because you didn't report anything previously and suddenly reported everything with a zero cost basis suggesting to them that you haven't been complying... zero cost basis has the maximum tax applied, claiming zero cost basis alone isn't a trigger for them to want more info, in 2017 I amended all my returns back to 2013 to come into compliance and claimed zero cost basis on any holdings I couldn't figure out because of defunct exchanges that don't exist anymore and they didn't question me about it... You are supposed to file 8949 with your return... When they do a crypto audit they will request all your crypto exchange accounts and wallet addresses, and a history of all transactions incl crypto to crypto. Typically they have some reason to believe you didn't pay enough so if you refuse they can just take your money because its civil, its so bullshit.

>>56750719
Maybe. The 8949 just lists taxable events. Its generated based on what accounting method you use on your trades. So you either had to get it from an exchange, or use software which you input all your trades into, so if you put all your trades in you should be good.

>> No.56750801

>>56750780
No, that's normal if its not huge, its just included in the 1040, filed together. Its only if you have a lot of trades you can attach a big data dump separately. In that case you have to send it in separately in the mail in addition to filing. Like I have 10k trades so I print them out in 8pt font on dozens of sheets of paper because there is no way to efile it. But if you only have 100 trades you can file like 10 8949s alone with your 1040.
