music then grad school
you can get into law or med school with a music BA/BMus. music has a pretty bad dropout rate, but if you’re not a total retard or super lazy you should be able to breeze through + pull qt art hoes
t. MA in music fag

also, live performers won’t be replaced entirely by AI. good music teachers will also always be better than the alternatives. $70/hr is not uncommon in leafland for private music teachers fwiw

architecture is great if you have the brain of a savant in many ways including spatial reasoning and some philosophy of art. otherwise don’t bother. 99/100 homes are shitbox cardboard maggotfeed

>Just get a useless bachelor's degree and then take extra courses to get into a professional program
The music degree was irrelevant, why would you even recommend this then?

I got a Bachelor's in Environmental Design, and a Master's in Architecture. I wouldn't recommend this career path unless you're willing to make a lot of sacrifices financially or socially. It's a rather difficult field, and the culture around education is sink or swim. There will be times were teachers will try to make an example out of you to weed out other individuals, and you may become very self conscious if you can't perform well in design, structures, theory, or more technical courses. You'll also be expected to learn major software skills during personal time, and classes will not touch on how to work with industry standards unless you specifically look for electives that do so. This doesn't account for the 2 years of experience (work hours) you'll need to document at a firm, in order to qualify for a series of 6 exams needed to get your Architectural license. As for degrees, they need to be NAAB accredited, or else you won't be eligible for the exams either. You can opt for a 5 year bachelor's if you don't want to pursue a master's, this is a fair alternative if you want to make the most out of financial aid services.

I'll give you some personal context in salary. People will tell you the pay is shit, you need to pursue Architecture for the love of it, they're right. I work at a firm as a Coordinator, the next step would be Architect. Architects make about +$2,000 more salary wise. My salary is 68K, after taxes it's 48K. I live in the Midwest, there's higher salaries elsewhere, but the cost of living is cheap here. Cost of living will be between 12K to 15K. Assume what you'll be able to invest freely each year is 22K, the rest is for emergencies. For context I started out as a Designer, but firms will have other positions like Drafter or Intern.

The best careers will likely be in STEM. If you're interested in design, tech might be a good option. A software engineer, UX/UI designer, or motion designer will all have salaries in the 6 digits.

For added context, a degree in UX for example will not be easy, but more accessible. The process to be considered a professional will also be more straightforward and clear cut with less red tape. I have a buddy who went through this process, and for them they had to work internships while completing their degree. You want to nab a spot at a FAANG company, or at least find a program that has alumni, teachers, or classes that will put you in contact with those companies. I would urge you to look for that in particular. The degree doesn't have to be from a great university, just one that can link you to a company that pays at least 100K in a starting position. I mainly say this since some universities will have programs where you'll get a chance to work for a company, like say Google, and establish a direct relationships with recruiters or staff later down the line. I wish you good luck anon, and hopefully there's more anons willing to share some more of their experiences and advice.

I would personally advise against the bachelor's in Architecture, unless you really like it. And if you do decide to pursue it, I recommend the 5 year programs. Otherwise you'll need to pursue a Master's if you want to be an Architect or be up for promotions later down the line.

If you want a general degree that can get you almost anywhere:

- Major in Business Administration
- Minor in Mathematics/Statistics

The best job is totally dependent on what you're interested in. If you want to work in a bank, or financial institution? Take a major in Economics, Accounting, Buisness Administration, or Finance, with a minor in Mathematics/Statistics.

If you want to be an artist, fashion designer, jewelry, etc.? Get a major in Arts, with a minor in Jewelry and Enameling, Fashion, Sculpture, etc.

Want to work in the scientific field? Get a a major in that specific field and then get a minor in mathematics/statistics.

Want to work for a agricultural company? Get major in agricultural buisness with a minor in mathematics/statistics.

Want to work for an oil company? Get a major in petroleum engineering, with a minor in Mathematics/Statistics.

Engineer here, I wish I became an actuary instead. I fell for the meme that you should do what you enjoy and find a career that you can be passionate about, but it's all a lie. I don't get to build cool robots or even do any maths, I just write boring documents. Actuaries probably have boring jobs too, but at least they're paid well for it.

Yeah. Become a travel nurse and live with your parents. You can clear $300k with free housing.

The downside is that you’d have to work in states like Florida where the hospitals are warzones
