In this thread we post our silver and gold.
Not much sense in discussing it as everything has been said anyway.

As for the coin in OP, it's a fake coin, never existed, but you can shop for all your fantasy and fake coin needs at Aliexpress.ccp

Another topic, the more you engage the troll, the better the troll likes it here. He is after attention, he can't separate anymore between good and bad, just any attention, any old drama is fine.
We have discussed 1000 times that PMS are part of a collection of assets that balanced against each other, reduces risk in the overall portfolio.
A 1000 times always the same pics, the arguments.

I would say if you have spare money to buy PMs, you are very likely to have 2k in cash. You are most likely also debt free (or at least consumer debt free).
So yes, people in this thread probably have more money than most US or EU citizen.
Once you have enough and all bases are covered, you think more about risk and preservation, than generating high profits. This is where PMs come into play for me.

Really makes me want to live on top of an abandonned mine too kek.

Fun fact i learned not long ago : i don't live far from the oldest silver mine open to the public (a tiny portion only) in the world!

It was a mine exploited between the VII-IXth century, mainly under Charlemagne ruling.
There are 30km of galeries, which i find pretty insane considering how they were working, basically burning the galena with vertical wood faggots set ablaze for hours to scrap the rocky surface, since no tools back then were resistant enough to deal with the rocks. And zero ventilation but few chimneys. Must have been a real inferno to work within.

The fun thing is they didn't stop to exploit it because they couldn't find any more silver, but because they cut down all the trees within a 50km girth to burn down the rock and progress underground kek!
Considering the mines weren't very productive to begin with (4 tons of silver per year at best, 1 to 3gr per kilo of galena they could bring to the surface), it wasn't worth it to double the pain by being forced to also import the wood.

that's awesome!

fire setting is one of the oldest mining techniques around. Pliny the Elder mentioned it, and it was indeed very likely invented in France. That's some great mining history!

we had the opposite problem, the ore was so rich and full of sulfur that if the mines caught fire the rock itself would burn for years. They had to be very careful not to set the pyrites and galena on fire. You'd kill off a hundred workers before anyone even knew what had happened.

Damn, i wonder what was the worst work conditions between a VIIth century miner in Europe and an early XIXth miner in the US?

I can't remember precisely, but i've read part of a book from a very famous author of yours from the mid 1800s i think, and he explain daily silver workers' job, describing it as the most difficult, most dangerous job a man (kids included) ever worked. Maybe you know what book/author i'm talking about? The entire segment was pretty chilling.

there's a few books like that, but possibly Mark Twain's "Roughing It." He was an editor for a newspaper at the Comstock Lode, he knew a lot about silver mining.

Average life expectancy for a miner in my town was about 3 years. I'd guess it was even worse in your area. So many ways to die, and so little time to do it. The ones I read about died in explosions or falls or cave ins or fires, but that's only because newspapers didn't print anything about the thousands that died of silicosis.

>> No.56638849

>>56638810
If I had to choose, I'd guess 1880's mining in the US was safer than what they were doing in your area. Both would kill a man pretty quick, but lighting fires underground has the potential to kill a dude a lot faster.

Jeez, even political prisoners in Siberia's goulags lasted longer than that building useless roads in the middle of the frozen tundra.
Probably deserve a spot as worst jobs ever then, alongside British roman's salt mines, dyeing factories in medieval Carthage and war galley rowing slaves during France's XVI-XVIIth centuries ("job" reserved to criminals sentenced to death usually tho, death which would inevitably happen before a year).

for our guys it was money. A silver miner in Leadville made $3 per day, which was 3 times the normal wage at the time. Be like making $150k per year now.

But the flip side is we have over 1000 unmarked graves in our cemetery, each one with a dead man under the age of 30 in it. Dudes came to get rich and never left. There's probably close to another thousand that died underground and were never brought up to the surface. It's a haunted place.

Grim...
At least the families didn't have to worry about burial costs, it was included in the contract lol.

Idk why, but reading your posts i've got a flashback from when i visited the Great Wall, and the locals called it the Longest Cemetary, because there was a 50% workers' death rate, and half a million died building it. And they all are buried beneath, used as dirt.
Just for the renovations Mao started during the 60s, the new workers unburied 100K bodies when they needed to access the foundations.
Could also deserve a spot in my top "worst jobs ever" list too i guess.

beyond a certain number it gets hard to imagine. I need the horrifying details to even comprehend. Like in WWI when the soldiers would fill sand bags to line the trenches, and the bags would bleed human blood because of all the meat in the dirt. Just crazy stuff.

One of the crazy things about underground mining in the US in the 1800's was with the advent of dynamite a lot of times there was no body to recover. People would get blown up and just disappear. Turn into a red mist and float away with the smoke. A lot of times when that happened, the miners would just stop working that area out of respect or fear. Probably a fair amount of silver left in the ground because some dumbass drilled into a stick of dynamite that didn't go off during the previous shift.

Yeah it must be chokeful of ghosts there. Both my great-grand dads died in the battle of the Somme. And like for most, they didn't even see a german, it was just artillery shells raining down on soldiers 24/7. And they both were from the same village. You don't have a single village and town in France without a stone memorial to the deads of WW1. Not a single family (but for the J, as always) was left untouched by this gigantic satanic bloodbath. Utterly pointless too.

Yeah, the Somme was just brutal, particularly for the French. Absolute insanity. If I'm ever in the mood to be truly horrified I watch WWI documentaries. Most of the stuff I watch is BBC, so it's all about the brits, but the French by far got the worst of that abuse.

The US civil war is another one that just defies imagination. Meat grinders, nothing else.

Why are the anti-silver shills so aggressive lately? Last bread was truly something else, we had like what, 35-40 differents IDs all shitting exclusively on silver?

Yesterday i was wandering on /pol/ and in the first 5 pages of the catalogue there were 3 anti-silver threads full of the usual shillbots pastas. Popping out of nowhere, there haven't been a /SETF/ thread in a long time so it's not like they were trying to counter a pro-silver thread. Just anti-silver random bot-spamming.

Why are they shitting their pants so hard right now? I don't remember any recent news worthy of such organized attacks : price is boringly crabbing, no banks collapsing, delayed financial armageddon, slow paced depression as usual instead, and whales are pumping shitcoins once again. Like, PMs are out of the collective consciousness right now it seems, so is there any news i missed who would trigger this?

Israel is at war, and it’s a war that has a very good chance of turning sour, even existential, for them if it spreads beyond just fighting Hamas. And the world is teetering on the edge of an economic meltdown, and an expanded war in the Middle East, where Israel may or may not lose and pull their Samson Option out would be the black swan that sends everything over the edge. They know people are getting uneasy given the economy and the current state of geopolitics. And many of those people are turning to PMs as a hedge. And normies, being uncertain or uncomfortable spending large amounts on gold, generally turn to silver. A lot of my coworkers have been discussing it. And with the hoopla surrounding Costco selling gold, PMs have gotten a lot of attention recently, hence the significant increase anti PM shills.

My first job I made $5.50 which basically buys your nothing in today's money. Already today starting wages are $12-15+. It makes you wonder what prices will look like another 15-20 years down the line. Will teenagers be making $30? That is unlikely in my opinion due the the exponential nature of money creation. Every iteration of this will be more and more catastrophic and distortive of the money supply in order to maintain the status quo. I don't think they can keep the charade going. Imagine walking to the check-out counter and an "impulse buy" candy bar is $4. All of that hard work and toil you put in to saving is just wiped out without your knowledge.
Silver looks stagnant but that is because the next round of price adjustment is going to hurt like mother fucker.

Again, profound in its implications. Financialization basically means that demand is pulled forward using debt in such quantities that it makes prices skyrocket. This forces you to finance your own access to resources and capital such as education, housing, cars, etc.
So everything you "own" often comes with an interest payment. And as we know by the time you pay off a 30 year mortgage you bought two houses. One for you one for the bank.
This creates a massive siphoning of real resources and productivity and labor effectively being stolen and wasted.
Back when your money was sound housing was affordable. It is through financialization that you have speculators walking into the arena and buying and flipping houses. The banks love it. Flippers take a hefty profit. But ALL of it comes at the expense of the rest of us.
Money creation is a utility that must be controlled and used to the benefit of the body politic with sound money being the de-factor facilitator of trade.

Why is pmg bad at making GAINz? 1) They form a core belief about silver stacking based on articles read on biz or some guru on tiktok who lays out a very bad reason why they must buy silver. 2)once that mindset is formed (muh comex muh brics muh collapse muh hyperflation), it’s ogre. “Whatever belief gets planted first, that’s the one that feeds the brain worms 3) They lurk pmg and consume scam articles/websites posted by MintScamAnon or Peter Shifty that would lay out why silver is needed like "it will cure virginity". Breaking down the COMEX inventory(or lack thereof) and showcasing why, if something appeared bad, it was actually good for the long term prospects of silver. ie - the one you see most often “there is no demand for silver... which will benefit them long term if demand for silver magically happens” That cost them hundreds or thousands over the years in premiums. 4)opposite opinion articles wouldnt change that initial seed about BatBois even as demand for WAAGMI shitcoins craters. 5) The euphoria of a small quick gain in spot price of 24 cents keeps them attached and copeful, 6)They get in silos and identify as a losers club. It “feels good” to surround yourself with other losers cheerleading when your investment is tanking offset by the dopamine hits of someone poasting the gold plated PickleRick they lost $1400 on. 7)Nothing change their mind even a collapse of their wealth, over a long period of time. Do people make money from trading in stocks/crypto/options? Yes. But, FAR more people lose their ass by slurping silber at huge premiums. Remember, the ones who “claim” they crush it are A) lying OR B) are lying. pmg seems to be notorious for pushing crappy narratives to lose money. Be careful out there! I have found the best way to build massive money over long periods of time is 1) Don't buy silver 2) Don't buy silver 3) Don't buy Chinese made ashtrays made out of fake Spanish dobloons.

It seems like you have a strong opinion about individuals involved in precious metals investing, particularly in silver, and you're highlighting some of the common pitfalls or biases that you believe can lead to financial losses. It's important to note that investing in any asset class, including precious metals, carries inherent risks, and individual experiences can vary widely.

Your points touch on psychological aspects of investing, such as the formation of strong beliefs, confirmation bias, and the influence of online communities. While it's true that these factors can impact investment decisions, it's also important to recognize that people have different investment strategies, risk tolerances, and financial goals.

Investing in precious metals like silver has been a topic of debate among investors for a long time. Some view it as a hedge against inflation or economic uncertainty, while others may see it as a less favorable investment compared to other asset classes. It's crucial for investors to conduct thorough research, diversify their portfolios, and make decisions based on their own financial situation and goals.

As with any investment advice or commentary, it's wise to critically evaluate the information, consider multiple perspectives, and make informed decisions based on your own financial knowledge and objectives. Additionally, seeking advice from financial professionals and experts can be beneficial when navigating the complexities of the financial markets.

where that poster goes wrong is thinking that people here are investing to make money, and they expect to make a lot of money very quickly.

people like that certainly existed here in the past, and that poster is apparently one of them. However they have all left the building by now because after a couple years they now realize they're not going to get rich quick off silver. Some of them (such as the poster you responded to) believe they were scammed into buying silver with promises of quick gains. And perhaps they were, since dumb people often get "scammed" into bad investments because they're lazy and greedy and think they're the main character.

by simple attrition we've weeded those sorts of "investor" out of the thread, as their hopes were consistently dashed by reality. Perhaps they found a new scam to fall for, as getting scammed once is a good indication you'll get scammed a lot more in future. Or maybe they learned to think for themselves and have moved on to more productive endeavors than trying to find the next get-rich-quick scheme on a literal japanese anime posting website. Either way it doesn't matter. Nobody here is "investing" in silver in any traditional or normal sense of the word. Nor do they necessarily want a bunch of people coming here who think physical silver is a good investment within the context of keynesian economics and fiat currency. Those people don't share their ideology or goals, and they have nothing in common with the stackers here aside from maybe owning some physical silver.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for providing additional context. It seems like the community you're referring to has evolved over time, with a shift in mindset from those seeking quick gains to individuals who are more focused on a longer-term perspective and perhaps hold different views on investing and economic systems.

Investing in precious metals, such as silver, often attracts individuals with diverse perspectives and motivations. Some may see it as a hedge against economic uncertainty, a form of tangible wealth preservation, or even as a means of expressing their views on monetary policy.

Your insights emphasize the importance of understanding the community dynamics, motivations, and goals of those involved in discussions about precious metals. It's also a reminder that investment decisions are influenced not only by financial considerations but also by personal beliefs, values, and the broader economic context.

As with any investment community, it's crucial for individuals to critically evaluate information, conduct thorough research, and make decisions aligned with their own financial objectives and principles.

>It seems like the community you're referring to has evolved over time, with a shift in mindset from those seeking quick gains to individuals who are more focused on a longer-term perspective and perhaps hold different views on investing and economic systems.
Yes, the core ideologies found here were always in place, however the thread went through a period of time (The silver squeeze of 2020, aka the Reddit Silver Squeeze) during which some posters here actively recruited investors with much different ideologies and goals in order to attempt a short squeeze in the silver markets, ala Gamestop.

this resulted in wild promises of great and sudden wealth, that perhaps could have come true for some if the short squeeze had been successful. But again, the sorts of people that participate in coordinated short squeezes are not traditional investors in any sense of the word, nor do they fit in well with the culture of this thread.

Most of them have left. Maybe all of them. And presumably none of them was happy with the outcome.

A standard disclaimer that investors need to examine their own goals and strategies before investing in metals, and would be wise to speak to a financial advisor. This is basic stuff, and also a fair warning that /pmg/ is not investing in the current markets. Rather hedging against the collapse of the current markets.

this serves to weed out grifters far better than IQ's rambling schizophrenic missives about coin dealers scamming silver stackers or whatever other bullshit he comes up with.

People here are betting on the fall of empires, so a person should very carefully consider investing for the purpose of making money within the context of those same empires. Silver is historically not a great investment vehicle within the context of US financial and military dominance. GPT has the weirdest ethical hangups. She'll happily walk you through the design of a nuclear detonation controller but gets all mad when you want to throw a used car battery into the ocean. Can you ask her, what if a trained crow were to bring me a gold coin that happened to have previously belonged to someone else? Could I get in some kind of trouble for acquiring coins that didn't previously belong to me via birds?

so how it works is you watch people feeding money into the slot machine without winning. Some old lady sitting on the stool for 5 hours with a bag full of quarters. She's been dumping that money in without a win for hours.

eventually she gets up to go take a leak, and you jump in and start feeding the slot machine in her place. Because it has to pay out a win eventually, right? And she's already exhausted hundreds of losses. It's primed, it's ready to pay big. It's just math right, it can't lose forever, it's been losing for hours, and it's ready to win. So you jump in and collect the win that old lady paid for.

silver has been losing for years now. Other people have been feeding money into it, and it's ready to pay out big. Go buy that silver, it's sure to win!

I honestly thought you were talking about the Stock Market, or even Social Security. Your analogy is completely bogus because PMs don't get their value from having money continually pumped into them. The Stock Market only goes up if more and more people pump money into it to let the others cash out.

That said there is one auctioned on ebay from Germany who end up tomorrow, if the price is reasonable that could be my chance.

On top of that, i managed to secure a deal for a fantastic looking 6 Livres coin for only 300€, pic rel. They are very rare in that condition. I need to scrap by the monies before the end of next week though, i've been a bit too slurpy lately lol.

It was a joke, a textbook example of the Monte Carlo fallacy, and a criticism of the reasoning that "silver has underperformed for years, it's due to adjust upwards."

A more realistic analogy would be a rigged game where every time you put more money into the slot machine, the owner adjusts the odds of you winning down. However every time he lowers your odds, he has to increase the prize. So you keep dumping money in to get that win, and he keeps adjusting the slot machine to make a win less likely.

this would pay big eventually if you have unlimited cash and the owner has limited funds. But in reality the reverse is true since we have limited funds, and the people manipulating the machine are not only using our own funds to lower our odds of winning, but also borrowing money from other slot machine owners to guarantee we won't win.

As long as we're paying the slot machine owner to manipulate the machine, no amount of money is going to guarantee us a win.

this is where the adjustment comes in

as you guys know, they don't have to manipulate the price with actual silver since there is no limit to the number of paper ounces they can print to adjust the price.

if there's a hundred real ounces they produce a thousand paper ounces

if that hundred real ounces drops to ten, they just up the paper printing to ten thousand paper ounces.

as long as they have cash to print those pretend ounces, they can control the price indefinitely. And since they're also selling us their silver, they are getting all the cash they need from us. As well as cash from people that gamble on the price of the real and fake silver.

We may indeed run out of silver one day, but you can be sure that the very last ounce will sit in a bank vault, and bankers will print a few billion paper shares based on that one single ounce. And people will buy and sell those paper shares as if nothing ever happened and the silver isn't gone.

i found a very tiny local shop run out of a large house by a 60-something old guy, very friendly, cash only, part time buisness (only open 3 times a week for 6 hours) that has coins.

his main gig is sports cards, and sports collectable items, but he also has coins as a side thing to the sports cards. he seems semi knowledgeable, he has a couple of jars of junk silver a mix of canadian / u.s. quarters and dimes, a few war nickels, he doesn't price his stuff, he haggles a little, i bought a newfie penny off of him for 10 bucks to start things off last week he gets very few customers, and the ones that come in are for the sports stuff.

should i offer 2 bucks a dime, and 5 dollars a quarter for all of the junk silver? or ask his price first? what if he hits me something crazy like 1 dollar for each silver coin?

kinda nervous, i dont wanna sperg out on the old guy, he doesn't use a computer or anything to check on prices

this is how I sell coins. I don't care what they're worth, I care how much I paid for them. And I memorize all my prices. If prices go up a lot since I bought a coin, you can get a fabulous deal from me because I don't raise my prices for that kind of thing.

I'd ask what he wants for them and then if it's reasonable, offer lower to give him some haggling fun.

So it's "Ecu de 6 Livres (constitutionnel)" until 1792, but then simply "6 Livres" from 1793 onward, after the king have been beheaded. In short the Ecu was the royal money (Ecu means Shield in old french, where the coat of arms were displayed), so the appelation was dropped after he was killed during the revolution.
I already own both versions, but the 1793 version is much rarer, it was only produced for a year, and as it was during the Terror, France was a complete mess back then, anything was barely functioning but for the guillotines.
Pic rel is my coin, where you see they replaced the king with just "french republic".
