I cannot think or comprehend of anything more cucked than buying long-term treasuries. Honestly, think about it rationally. You are loaning your money to the Federal government for at least two years solely so they can give it to Ukraine and Israel. All the hard work you put into getting your money - wageslaving, making profitable trades, not buying too many funkopops, denying yourself avocado toast, avoiding Jeet scams on /biz/. All of it has one simple result: your money gets LOWER interest rates and is held up for longer than it would be in shorter term bonds and bills. Saved the perfect sum? Great. Who benefits? If you're lucky, a random NEET getting gibbs who had nothing to do with the way you saved your money, who gets paid by the Feds. You get fucked by high inflation every month. Ukraine, Israel, and Monstanto get the benefits of your money that came from your earnings. As an investor who buys long-term treasuries, you are LITERALLY dedicating at least two years of your investment simply to raise a sum for other people to enjoy. It is the ULTIMATE AND FINAL cuck. Think about it logically.

Done! I don't go for razor with my kitchen knives. If I do that angle it's just going to get ruined the second I slice in to an potato. Knife sharpening autists are pretty silly about this. "No no no that's not the theoretically maximum possible sharpness!" they say, before they use their boutique knives to open amazon boxes or whatever.

Yes, on the one hand there's that.

On the other hand, there's the fact that the administration has a nearly perfect record of failure. $3/gallon gas on election day is about as likely as $10/gallon.

Hold? They are my countertrade while shorting EU. If market goes up, the value of my bonds increases and I can sell them. If market goes down, value also decreases but I make a lot more money shorting and I still get interest. All the bonds are +4,5% yield and more. I expect inflation to come down, although not yet. The risk I fear more is the ECB lowering rates and then hiking them maybe even higher in an attempt to change the monetary police from 0% interest to +5% as in the 80s. Then my bonds will be a loss. But because I also short I'll profit probably more from that. I see it more as a hedge as I'm not willing to buy stocks (yet, if at all).

You shouldn't assume this so casually. We can have bullish stock market and high rates at the same time.

That is true. It can happen that yields go higher and the stock market goes higher. But for the time there is an inverted correlation.

Inflation is not 9%. I know the y/y effect suppresses it and in a few months inflation might increase, but I don't expect it, even in the EU to go above 6 or rather 7% again. The romanian ones are all above 6,5%. Greek and spanish lower but I bought those rather for trading.

Natgas doesn't look like it is going to explode again. Oil is "ok" for currently. October CPI will probably be soft because of 2022 October Oil being high. Same for November. December CPI might look different, but that depends on where Oil will be in december.

Don't misunderstand me, I don't attribute lower inflation to the central banks.

You wouldn't get it. 90's was the ATH of American race relations due to economic prosperity. When everything's a party, why not invite everyone? Fast forward to 2008 and everyone's looking at the metaphorical last slice of pizza in the fridge and realizing they'll need to slug it out among races/genders/whatever to see who gets it. That slugging it out brings us to where we are now. But some of us remember the time before the slugging it out.

well my fine young friend, the difference in those two figures is a Capital Gain, not Investment Income.
these are each usually subject to taxation and sometimes at different rates. the buyer's hurdle rate is either built into coupons, or, the bonds just don't sell at par. it's simply easier that way. the difference gets made up in the market instead of the taxing authority having to keep track of all those potential exemptions.
as the bond changes hands, each holder makes their own capital gain (or loss) and similarly they receive part or all of the coupon payments, each their own income to declare.
this might result in less than the minimum taxable amount of income for a particular year, sometimes there are carve-outs in tax rules for military veterans, elderly, etc.
it's all about 1) the market action, which makes your issues desirable to buyers worldwide and 2) preferential treatment

>Yields of longer-dated Treasury securities have surged by about 150 basis points since April this year, from about 3.5% to above 5% for 20-year and 30-year yields, and to just below 5% for the 10-year yield, which has caused a historic bloodbath for holders of these securities and bond funds, such as the TLT. There is now a lot of navel-gazing in some quarters as to why this jump in yields could possibly have happened. And here and there, some fancy theories are getting trotted out.

>But it boils down to supply and demand. Supply is a tsunami of Treasury securities being issued as the government has to borrow unspeakable amounts to fund its scandalous deficits even in a strong economy.

>And this tsunami of supply must find demand. Yields must rise until they meet demand. Yield solves all demand problems. There will always be demand if the yields are high enough, so it’s not a question of finding buyers, but at what yield those buyers can be found.

>And that’s what we’re looking at: To what level will 10-year yields have to rise to entice even me to buy some of them? For me, 10-year yields are not there yet. And as each wave of issuance gets bought, new buyers need to be enticed with sufficient yields.

>Obviously, something could change that would lower yield expectations by potential buyers, such as inflation miraculously vanishing or something scary happening that will make even an unappetizing 10-year yield look better than the alternatives. But we’re not there yet.

it really does. Biggest US creditors are foreign bond buyers. Japan & China are the biggest. But because US debt keeps rising faster than foreign bond buying, the yields keep rising due to lower global demand

>And so the share of foreign holders of the US debt held by the public has plunged. Ten years ago, they held 45% of the public US debt; but now, despite the increase of their holdings over this period, their share has dropped to 29%.

>In other words, they’re still adding, but not nearly fast enough to keep up with the growth of the US debt. And other buyers have to be enticed with higher yields to fill the gap.

You don't have to pay to do maintenance. The whole point of leasing is if anything at all goes wrong with your car the dealership is on the hook. You also can basically trade it in every couple of years and get a brand new car, and if you end up liking the car you can buy it after instead. The only thing you have to watch is your mileage because there is a cap per year, but it's ideal for someone that lives and works in a small town like me. it's ok to buy a niceish car if you plan on keeping it for awhile.

I bought a 2011 Ford SHO used from the dealer with like 800 miles on it in 2011. full trim package, sound system, sports package and everything. I haven't had a single mechanical problem with it just a couple cosmetic issues with the plastic in the interior and the chrome trim. I bought it the first year that in car entertainment/phone sync systems/rear backup cameras etc came out. It still has a top tier version of all of those, I regularly rent cars when I travel and notice that the systems in new Dodges, Volkswagens etc suck compared to what I bought 10 years ago. It has a built in GPS that works far better than Google/Apple maps still. I love the car and could easily drive it another 10 years.
