So I'm 22 and about to get out of the army. Zogbot I know, but I got the gi bill and I have the option of several schools back in my home town. If I go to a public school the gi bill will cover in full but tuition is still only around 10k. I also get around 2k for housing allowance. I found out though that if I were to choose a private school tbe gi bill covers up to 27k of tuition a year which means the school's I've been eyeing I only have to cover roughly 5k left out of pocket a year. I can cover that 5k with my housing allowance easily. Any anons know if private school is worth it? I kinda want to maxx out the tuition coverage they're willing to give. This isn't including any grants or scholarships I can also receive later.

Depends what their rank is and what's ideologies is the norm on campus. Christian Private Schools are usually pretty based and the majority of the attendees are usually females from rich families. Pretty much the best of both worlds for college (girls, academics) if you can afford it I say definitely do it. But understand the schools environment entirely before wasting the cash yet

Private schools aren’t better just because they are private lol. Just apply to the highest ranked schools you think you can get into and then evaluate them individually retard

You're not shopping for schools, you're shopping for social circles. All schools teach the same shit. All of it is worthless.

What is not worthless is the networking that you get from being around other people who will go on to live successful lives.

College is the one affordable place in this world where the mouth breathing retards are filtered out.

Go to the highest ranked school you get into. 5k out of pocket per year is literally nothing.

Congrats anon, make sure you have copies and copies of your DD-214. I actually was in your shoes and went the private school route. If I were to do it again, I would not have gone to a private school because my tuition went up yearly. My BAH was apx. 2k/month. This was back in the 2010's. Once I got out of college, I realized that the school that I went to didn't matter. Employers dont really give a fuck unless you're going to an ivy league school. I wish I had taken my BAH and just put a nice chunk of it into the markets or at least saved it.

>>56408710 here again. Also, I just figured I'd pass some more knowledge your way.
If you put away or invest 2k of that 5k a month (10 months only because you dont get paid when not actively in school), multiply that by 4 years of schooling to get your bachelors, and you'll be sitting on a nice nest egg of about $80k when all is said and done in 4 years. If you are working a part or full time job on top of your monthly stipend from the VA, that all goes to you too. Don't be stupid like I was.
