Stopping or slowing down before that point is a skill that took me like 20 years to develop, and I'm still not perfect at it. You either have the "If I have one then I'll have ten" gene or you don't. Some people have trouble finishing one drink. There's a TED talk that says "The opposite of addiction is not sobriety, it's connection." I've noticed that when I have good mental health and a clean room I'm less tempted to binge. It's a way of escaping reality. My advice: fill your stomach with some food high in soluble fiber and drink a shitload of water beforehand. This will make you so full that you can't accidentally drink too fast.

If you're going to be a drinker in your later years you have to mature as one. I was at a birthday party last night. First rule is avoid hard liquor period during social gatherings, stick to beer. I had 2 24 ounce beers first thing, then they broke out the taco bar and I ate 6 tacos. Then I was able to drink all night and keep my composure. We tend to avoid food when we drink to avoid killing the buzz but you have to eat to prolonged the night. I drank all night after the food and was still able to behave myself after. Even had some cougar tell me that she was planning on divorcing her husband next year after her daughter graduates and wanted to fuck me after. I took a flyer on that because I have health insurance now and plan on getting a metric fuckton of Cialis and fucking single moms until I die. Make the right choices anon. Have discipline.

Anymore to retire early without living like a hermit you need to do things differently. Like the military. 20 years in, full retirement after. Take advantage of all the perks they give so you keep most of your pay. Invest that over the 20 years your in. You'll be out setup pretty good. Especially if you keep up the investing. Buddy of mine did that. Enlisted in year 2003. He's out retired now doing whatever. He's 39.

Opinion on small oil companies that dont produce oil yet, but hold stakes in exploration licenses and non producing fields?
Take for example Deltic Energy with a market cap of 20 million, they have 2 joint ventures with Shell in 2 undrilled oil fields. But it will probably take at least 4 year until the first field actually starts producing.

Unnecessary risk. Actual high quality oil giants are trading at already pretty low EV/DACF and EV/FCF multiples to begin with, and same goes for largecaps. Already producing midcaps and smallcaps with weak margins are the way to go if you really need that leverage to oil prices, there is literally zero reason to go that far out the risk curve that you'd go for drill plays in this market.

My son just turned 18, and has saved up $20k working at a fast food place for a year. He wants to buy a car cash, maybe $10k or so within the next 6 months to a year.

He opened up a kikehood account to get 4.9% on his cash.

Should he get some divvy stocks or low risk boomer funds with some of that money in the mean time, and if so, what's some good combinations of cash/divvies/mutual funds for him until he buys a car?

Maybe you can teach him about volatility, expected return and time horizons. Stocks return the most, but they swing a lot, so after 6 months you don't really know what will happen and you could lose money. But statistically it's the winning play. Then ask him if he wants to gamble or not.

My cash is gaining the 4.9% while auto DCAing $10 per day into FCG. You could pick a few stocks and auto DCA little bits into them instead. If I were doing that my choices would probably be XOM and DE. I've watched DE daily for a couple of years and it does a pretty good bit of swinging in a fairly wide range, always recovers from dips, so any DCA injections during those dips should boost your overall gain nicely, though I fear it might take a hard hit in a substantial market crash. Anyway, right now, due to the somewhat likely potential of such a crash, there's no way I'd start nor DCA a position with large amounts, but these small amounts while gaining that interest seems like a reasonably "safe" way to wind up growing a nice position over time. Of course, just holding the cash and taking in the interest is a pretty solid Way for now too. The Vanguard energy ETF might be a good choice. Energy has the lowest forward P/E of the sectors.

HOOD has the "Reoccurring Investment" functionality which allows you to set an amount and interval. It will then automatically INVOOST that amount at those intervals. For example, I'm doing $10 per day into FCG, but you could do, say, $1 per day into 10 STOOKS, or whatever per week or month, etc. It puts in the orders at around 11 am on the interval days, and the orders tend to fill within a couple of hours or so. Passive DCA.

You're "selling" the option contract to someone else (usually a market maker), hence why it's asking you to "sell" the put, with you getting paid a premium for the put you sold.
In return you're obligated to buy the stock with the collateral you used should it reach the specified strike price.
There's arguments to be made on whether or not it's less risky than just buying options, but if you wanted to buy a stock anyways then selling puts against it isn't a bad idea.

A favorite seems to be things like selling 30 to 45dte on good Delta and closing the CSPs early once half the premium is earned.
But if you're trying to get assigned then selling the put at the current strike price will give you the most premium and a higher chance of receiving the shares. You can choose whichever dte you want.

You're option wheeling at that point. I really don't want to be that guy but be careful, if you're happy with the stock you're going to get assigned at then by all means, but definitely look into the risks you take when selling options.
Yes it's conservative, but the one thing you don't have is insurance that option buyers receive, ie. They only lose the value from the contract bought at most, you can lose everything if the stock you sell puts on goes to zero.

Not saying your some retard that's full porting into some pharmaceutical company, just that chasing the premium high from selling contracts can eventually heem you if you choose high IV, low value companies.
