There are certain things that are only possibly on chains like Solana where the fees are tiny fractions of a cent. For example if a dapp wants to abstract away complexity for its users by covering their gas fees or drop loyalty points on chain to a million plus users without clogging up blocks. L2s are a step in the right direction but they still have gas fees greater than a cent and can't handle that kind of load yet.

It's less complex than that. The Treasury was on fantom and since multichain rugged their ftm usdc depegged and lost value. They lost like 80% with most of the remaining value being in fantom itself which uhh... not great.

Even *if* the funds get recovered the longer this plays out the less people will trust ftm. Its why they are trying to go for a "rebrand". Theyre losing trust not only by waiting to do any sort of recovery plan, but also by them trusting the wrong partners and reassuring everyone that things were OK when they knew for certain they were not.
