Is there any good reason to diversity into stocks? Currently 100% crypto and it seems the biggest risk is sticking with boomer investments at this point

I'm having trouble making this decision as well.

Feels like I should diversify but feels like both markets could crash at any moment.

It depends on your age, income, and risk tolerance. Its always smart to have a diversified portfolio. Crypto is very high risk, extremely volatile, but you have the chance of picking a winner, kind of like playing roulette. Stocks are historically great in the long term, but are unlikely to yield anywhere near as much. That being said, if your money isn't working for you, you're just being a fool. Index funds typically yield better than most mutual funds, and in the long run, have decent gains. I prefer unmanaged index funds because I'm not paying management fees. I treat it more like a supplement to a retirement fund. There's also high-yield savings accounts as well.

That would definitely be wise. If you're really concerned about a market crash, you'd probably be better suited with a high yield savings account. Typically, you set up direct deposit on it and there are no fees. So-Fi and Lending Club both offer 4.5%, there are others out there you should look up. If you're young, or you already have a lot of liquid these accounts are great for the long term. At the very least its a hedge against inflation, so you're not losing money having it languish in a Wells Fargo or Chase account making 0.25%

>> No.56321438

I wouldn't advise real estate right now unless you've got a very large down payment or can buy the property outright. Also, real estate is very regional. One city or regional market can be completely different from others. You really need to do homework if you're looking at getting into real estate as an investment.

Stocks feel a lot worse than crypto
>pump and dumps are shilled as 'legit' because they've got vanguard or blackrock investors/FDA/DEA/SEC approval
>
Crypto has every person trying to prove they are, in fact, not a scammer while everyone else is. Stocks are a place for 50yo gen xers in /smg/ who used to shitpost about mudkips 20 years ago on /b/ to go and hide their cash in hopes that 'number go up' isn't a meme but a boomer manifested reality. The alternate side are things like penny stocks and options but /smg/fags are literally talking about stuff (options) that can send your portfolio to zero.

Crypto can go to infinity just by hodling it, real estate is a place you can live and see your net worth go up, gold is shiny and you can hit people with it. Stocks are like a shittier version of crypto where a 70yo financial advisor who should have retired 15 years ago when the recession happened explains to you that actually Netflix is a great investment because all his retired buddies say so.

>> No.56322730

You morons. The only thing you diversify is your investment portfolio. That means different markets! It doesn't mean 12 different stocks. It means investing in bonds, crypto, stocks, futures, pasts, commodities, barbie dolls, collectors plates, mint-condition coins, baseball cards, street drugs, etc.

I mean, yeah, if you want to plan for retirement and max out your IRA, SEP IRA and 401K. Stocks are more liquid and offer just as much in gains. To this day my best trades have been penny stocks. Bought IPNFF at 1 cent and sold at 42 cents. Paid off all my debts and put the rest in crypto. Currently down -98% from my entries in crypto. I've never seen anyone lose that much on stocks, not even penny stocks.

If you were to ask me I'd say now's the time to be DCAing into 'safe' cryptos like btc/eth until the next halving and/or the Fed cuts interest rates again. yeah, btc is still king. So it's prob ever so slightly safer for those more risk averse. I won't engage in mETH head flippening fantasies because I think the btc/eth rivalry, PoW vs PoS, etc, is beyond my expertise.

But just to be transparent I'm probably at a 75/25 ratio of eth/btc in favor of eth.

I mean if u can stomach a lot of volatility and risk crypto all the way. Especially at this very moment in time. Going of the 4 year cycle theory and the btc halving approaching. Historically the next few months will be a good time to buy crypto. I bought the top and got rekt. Now I'll be buying the bottom. I feel as if stocks are for people who already have a lot of capital and r thus alright with a meager 25-50% return in one year.

I don't think the real economy and the stock market/crypto r necessarily the same thing. Although the extreme financialization of the economy might disagree. In terms of how much capital is a lot I would say it depends on the individual. For me 100k would be a lot and something that I would be afraid to lose. I would personally not put anywhere near 100% percent in crypto. I'm only playing with like 15k so I'm diversifing in very low marketcap alts. Which are MUCH riskier then cryptos in the top 10 in marketcap. Also I'm not deploying all my capital just in case the cycle theory doesn't play out this time.
