Click. Clack. NVOS.

> NVOS is a shady looking company that used to be on the OTC exchange and uplisted to the Nasdaq in 2021.

>After the market closed on 9/28/23, NVOS released a PR that states (pic rel):

>One Billion Dollar Collateral Transfer Through Blacksheep Trust

>When we saw this, we asked the question, what is Blacksheep Trust? The only info that NVOS provides in its filing on the deal is:
The company doesn’t even provide an email. Why isn’t NVOS providing more information on this company that they felt OK with putting out a flashy PR? Isn’t NVOS doing any due diligence on who they partner with?
We checked John Baron’s LinkedIn, and we found this (haven't provided pic)
Source: Linkedin

>OK, interesting. So we just know the guy is the Chairman of Blacksheep Trust and is from Toronto, there’s no more info on what he has done.

And sometimes I'd just cut a loss outright before it got worse. You really just have to try to keep the pulse and strategize accordingly. Anyway, at that time (back when it was in the 6s) I was a total noob at it and had no idea how fucked it was about to get (it wound up going into the 2s then pulling back up to the 3s before reverse splitting to the 60s for those watching at home).

I learned that fundamental analysis is a scam:
>you will never understand the business that you're analyzing - most of us don't have enough knowledge and experience
>you will never analyze the finances - company you're analyzing has whole team of accountants to deal with this shit. Your 10 minutes reasearch won't comprehend it
>you're analyzing based on public data, which is the tip of the iceberg
>you have no clue what competition is doing. You can research it, but let's be honest, we are all clueless
>You're forecasts are as accurate as an one-eyed down syndrom child trying to throw a dart at a fly from 100 meters away
It's all gambling. Regarless of the method you choose to pick stocks, it's just a cope. I just pick stuff based on gut feeling and I'm doing fine.

Also reminder, Peter Lynch had a portfolio with 1400 companies in it. As long as you throw darts at actual companies, not vaporware, you should be able to pick enough winners to make your portfolio profitable.

Just focus on the basics anon. It takes a real special company to go bankrupt with no debt. High profit margins mean they can charge whatever they want for their product. Consistently increasing revenues means they're growing. Try to keep the P/E equal or less to expected yearly growth. Read a couple news stories and a couple earnings calls so you know what's going on lately.

You don't need to be a business god, just improve your odds a little. A few hours of research can separate "underpriced" from "about to go bankrupt" or pick a few good companies out of the competition in a sector you're interested in. Beating the S&P by just 1 point a year can really add up.

Yeah check out western tobacco companies
BTI, PM, MO, UVV, and IMB they all are running into big debt problems and passive/divvie investors will get heemed because they'll have to refinance at 10% cut dividends and or dilute.
And now compare them to Japan tobacco clean balance sheet growing revenue and income stable dividends almost no debt. keep an eye on these tobacco companies when they correct because of dividend cuts or debt issues and management becomes unemployed. Might be a good buy at that point.

US made some absurd tax rules on foreigners holding MLPs that went into effect this past January.
I forget the exact details but something like 10% withholding of total value sold regardless of profit. Distributions automatically withheld at the highest short-term income tax bracket.

In response pretty much every foreign brokerage immediately blocked their users from holding, and instituted mandatory redemptions before the rules went into effect. Created a few slurpable dips last November/December.

KRP looks like it's actually not even taxed as an MLP, but simply having "LP" in the name was enough to get inserted into most block lists.

"Good will" is usually used to represent what one company paid to acquire another company in excess of its other assets.

But that kind of accounting funny-business isn't what really matters unless you're some kind of professional stock investor. What matters is just having some idea about what's a good deal and which stocks are obviously garbage. The whole market is every company, even the very bad ones. If you see a company with debt that's 2x assets and just walk away then you're already beating the market.

If you learn more you might increase that edge slightly but it's not really a big deal as long as you know to look for consistently increasing revenues, low P/E, high profit margins, and debt that isn't approaching or exceeding assets. If a deal looks too good to be true check the news to make sure there's not a scandal or something. That'll weed out a bunch of shitty companies and maybe even pick a few front-runners that are a little better than the others. That's already plenty.

Fuckin' retard. BOIL is NATGAS and is entering shoulder season. It's curve has essentially no relation to oil other than during production. You could know absolutely nothing about trading and still make a million dollars buying a random ticker because it reminded you of an inside joke and you liked having a reason to laugh. Staying cash with everything as insane as it is right now is far from the worst decision, putting cash in an mm is about the safest way of staying cash and still making something for doing it even if it's not enough to keep up with inflation.

Would you rather make 5% and lose 4% to inflation or lose 50-100% longing something right before the market gets kneecapped?

On a 3 year timeframe, sure. That was a once in a decade dip for the entire stock market, even beyond oil stocks. Oil stocks definitely got hammered harder though, enough to reset the industry and create the positive environment we're in today.

But the 2 year timeframe is what really separates the shitcos. I recall REI being shilled for a while. Bagholders are down 30% over 2 years now, during a period of fairly strong pricing.
Meanwhile PBR-A has paid out $10+ in dividends and traded up from $10 or so to near $14 now.

So I think some people naively overestimate the benefits of a rising tide.
