>The Fed took 50 basis points away from expected cuts in 2024.
market was pricing in odds of November raise at 40%, if they come out and say "we are raising again this year" - that is a surprise, and goes against the odds
market was expecting aggressive cuts by May/June - previously was expected by end of 2024 rates would be 4.6%, now SURPRISE 5.1% - higher for longer, that rates will remain higher, for a longer period than was previously expected - this is a surprise, as market expect fast and heavy cuts

I still have my inherited IRA and brokerage account at vanguard. Do I fucking bother moving it or just liquidate as much as I'm willing to distribute without hitting the next tax bracket. I was going to move it to Schwab, but they did something mildly stupid so I'm not as motivated to do that as I was. My wife thinks the market is going to crash and wants it out of these funds and in a high yield savings or at least a cash account at a local bank.
What do? Should I link my credit union to vanguard (who have been having technical issues) and just dump everything but the portion I don't want to pay the next bracket on, or open an account with Schwab and move it all over. I don't really need the money now, I can wait 5 to 7 business days to transfer it.

I never did get around to calling Fidelity. You think they'll have some random chink hooker call me unsolicited like Schwab did?

No, just over a week of you can believe it. Every time I'm about to make a decision there's a problem or someone does something stupid.
Right now I'm thinking $15k in the credit union I opened up (the maximum amount they give 4% dividend on) $30-$35k in a brokerage account (I'm going to learn trading. The first $25k I won't touch, it's just there to qualify for day trading. Maybe leave it in an s&p index fund? I can do this, right? And then I'll use the rest to trade (when I'm ready) and if I lose it I'll quit. Everything else in a HYSA or CD. Maybe I'll buy one gold coin as well. I got some PMs already, but another ounce of gold would be cool.

Or do I just get the fuck out of the market, put it all in CDs/HYSAs/PMs/fucking paper cash? It's not really going to crash, right? That's just memes?!

I guess my point is that if I don't trust the market I can just liquidate the vanguard account as it sits.
>market research
Well, for my personal decision, yes. I'd be happy to hear anything about Fidelity or Schwab, or even a good HYSA that isn't a shifty online bank.

The shittiest part has been the "experts" who have been wrong about shit. Three weeks ago I don't know shit about any of this (IRA's, brokerages, inheritance, etc.) Most of what I read told by people who damn well should have known never was factually incorrect. Now I'm paranoid because of all the wrong and misleading information I got in the first couple weeks that I've got all this shit and I still don't have access to it. It's not like I'm going to go do anything stupid (right away.) I can't think of anything worth buying that isn't practical and long overdue.

I will admit that he temptation to quit my job and smoke cheap legal weed is very strong, but I know I'd regret it in two weeks. In fact, I'm still volunteering for weekend overtime.

Also here's an idea I had to spot reversals
>For a given date in the future, take sqrt(ATR x number of candles)
>Add or subtract that from the candle's closing price
>Can see the expected range (1SD) that it should move to 66% of the time
But I just noticed for SOXS it basically just hugged the trendline with this method then broke away to a reversal.

You may just have some really good tism for it. It may continue forever, or it may break down at some point. Just keep doing whatever you've been doing until it shows signs of not working, then switch to Bogleism. I suggest living very frugally and keep building your capital so that once your methodology starts breaking down (IF it does) you can have it all in good dividend stooks that give you regular pay checks.

Are you for real? Of 6,5k you put 5k into shorttime-calls? I thought I was degenerate sometimes, but I think you guys in the US have to go above and beyond.

Well as you see, somebody advising you now to buy puts would be the same bet but opposite direction.

Since I'm a bobo and I believe in higher for longer I'm taking every short opportunity, but after that drop it's hard to tell if we just slide further. Japan will probably start tightening soon at the end of the year, so market should take further hits.

With that much of a loss it's hard to say. You are at a spot where you go "fuck it, all in" or you try slowly to build up, but it is so fuckin annoying and strenous that you question yourself if it is worth it. Especially worth your time, since you also have to put that in relation. You are using your lifetime to make money on the market, you'd need to make more than working as a wagie or it is not really worth it, except it is a thing of 5 mins a day "work" (just checking investment/gamble).

I can't give you advice on what to buy or short now. Sorry man. That was a coinflip gone wrong.
