I got a bunch of these shits from way back but I haven't paid attention to it in over a year. Anything new going on?

Yes and no.
There are new things going on, technically speaking. The Ampleforth core team invented a new flatcoin system, that tranches the supply volatility of AMPL, creating a stablish token called Spot.
On the other hand, No. Nothing much is going on. Market cap continues to drain. Ampl is in a lost forgotten sad state. There was a limp pump today, and some bagholder made this thread hoping for a boost.
An AMPL thread on biz is tried and true sell signal, sure as you're alive

Ample seems like it was a good idea but of course Jews do not want a token that pegs itself to the 2019 CPI dollar which is why it’ll never succeed.

Would have been perfect for defi applications such as loaning and borrowing

Ampl was on Aave for a time, but it didn't really work. There was no incentive to lend, because nobody borrowed during negative rebase cycles.
They developed a new system of zero coupon bonds called Mooncake that had promise. I'm not sure what happened with that. I think it was a prototype on the way to launching Spot.
Ampl is a simple, powerful idea. I think it will always be around as a niche asset for certain subculture of traders to obsess over.
We'll see about Spot. It's relatively stable up to now, only there is no demand and no trading volume. I don't see how they plan to deepen liquidity
