Same boat bro. In my field I am currently working for about 20% less annually than the current standard for my job and I’m only doing it cos its remote. No way I’m moving to the city to earn a bit more and just lose it all to rent. And so many companies will advertise remote then say 1-2 days a werk in the office. Scumbags, makes me sick how quickly the working class just rolled over and went straight back to the office as soon as the higher ups said so.

i've heard this but i don't think it's reasonable. it means jumping through phone screens and 3-4 rounds of interviews until MAYBE they cave and offer you remote (HR roastie phone screener doesn't have the power to mandate official or unofficial remote.)

also i'm applying to some manager level roles. doubt remote would fly if my prospective subordinates are on the free range, open office nigger cattle pastures.
